Hi macropod,

> {EQ sup6(f(,a))}

If I try this in my Dutch version of Word 2003, I only get “Fout” (= Dutch for “Error”). No idea what I’m doing wrong, typed it in very carefully. And yes, field braces were entered with Ctrl+F9.

I think (cannot test at the moment) you can also use

{ PAGE } of { SECTIONPAGES }

to get the count of only the pages in that section, so you can use that if the rest of the doc is only one section.

Hi Al,

I recently bought a 320Gb “Conceptronic USB Drive” as the box advertised in big letters. But reading the small print it becomes clear that Conceptronic only manufactures the casing and interface, and puts a Western Digital Caviar inside. So maybe these brands you mention do the same trick.

Those circles are “no-break” spaces. If you put one between two words, Word treats the combination like one word and won’t put the first word on the end of a line and the second on the next line. I use it a lot to prevent a break in a first name – second name combination. The code for this is ^s (hat s).

The manuals of both my Canon and my son’s HP digital camera’s specifically state that the SD cards should only be formatted in the camera, using the build-in Format command, and not with an external device. Doing so several times never caused neither me, nor my son any problems.
if you have a toolbar that changes depending on which template opens this will not be available in Office 2007
Thanks for the input Jack.
What we have here are template-specific toolbars that are saved within that template, not a global toolbar that changes depending on which template opens.
We do try to maintain a house style with our company templates, which are protected for forms. I guess I’ll have to wait ’till I get a chance to test it, or maybe Daisy comes up with the answer after testing.

We have those template-specific toolbars sitting just above the status bar, to make the distinction with global toolbars (Word’s own and custom) better visible for our users. This has been the case since 1998, when we switched from WordPerfect to Word 97. And it’s taught in workshops, so they’re used to it and they like it.
I’ll be grateful if you put it to the test. I cannot do this myself because there’s no PC with Office 2007 available and won’t be for a couple of months.
Thanks Daisy.

What you describe is typical for an U3 compliant flash drive. What exactly is started via autorun.ini?
And have you visited the manufacturer’s website and looked for info about that particular flash drive?

I don’t have any experience yet with Office 2007, but am planning to install on one PC to test our dozens of templates later this year. This toolbar issue really worries me, because we have a lot of dot files with template-specific toolbars, showing only if a doc based on that template is created/opened, giving users access to template-specific functionality. So I hope that the issue is only with application-wide/add-in toolbars. If these template-specific toolbars also don’t show, then we would be in big trouble, I think, and a reason for not updating from 2003 to 2007.

so what I’m looking for is someway to keep track of what files have been archived where
You could read your back-up DVD’s into a catalog program, i.e. like Advanced Disk Catalog 1.51 (shareware). That makes finding and retrieving files from DVD very easy.

Hans is right of course, but just in case you want to know anyway:
DocClose catches the document close button (x), Ctrl+W and Ctrl+F4
FileClose catches the menu-item File | Close
FileExit catches application close button (X), the menu-item File | Exit and Alt+F4 (and closes Word too of course)
