AskWoody LoungerThat would be perfect, but i’m not very familier with VB, i don’t know what API’s are, i program VBA & SQL for work but simple stuff, mainly code to automate statistics compilation and querying our main vehicles database also values that i read from the registry are wrote to the registry using the “SaveSetting” method & read using the “GetSetting” method. Could you post the code to read the Path from the registry?
The path is contained in the key “Folder” in the “HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREUnreal TechnologyInstalled AppsUnrealTournament” section of the registry.
Thanks In Advance

AskWoody LoungerI have about 500 zip files containing Unreal Tornament maps, i want to unzip these into the correct directories inside the Unreal Install path but i don’t want to ask the user for the install path. Instead i want to read the install path from a registry entry created when Unreal Tornament was installed! I have already done this with a .bat file and command line support for winzip but i still have to ask the user for the install path. I think this makes sense, any queries just ask.
Thanks

AskWoody LoungerI don’t want to modify the registry, only read a path from it! I am using VB 5 and have tried looking at the references in some of the above replys but i ain’t come up with squat! Must be me, i think i’ll ask one of my fellow I.T. ers in work on monday!

AskWoody LoungerI have tried making sense of the VB Help but it ain’t happening, it only helps with settings that have been wrote to the registry with VB. I have to read a path from the registry that have been wrote by other programs. Any idea’s?

AskWoody Loungeri thought f doing that but would rather try to use a batch file first. I want to pull an install path of a game from the registry in order to patch the program’s executable file! And guess what i went to try to do it with VB today and i can’t remember how to, it’s been a while since i’ve had to read somthing in from the registry, i’ll have to ask in the VB forum, any ideas here though? i think u use the “GetSetting(appname, section, key[, default])” or “GetAllSettings(appname, section)” command but can’t remember exactly and all my reference books are in work at the mo. any idea’s anyone?

AskWoody LoungerI think i came across wrong, i ain’t afraid to tinker with the registry, i’ve been reading/writing VBA code from/to the registry for a while now but i just ain’t got a clue how to do it from a .bat file! Any ideas!

AskWoody LoungerCheers Tim, just what the doctor ordered! I wanted to write a batch file that extracts Unreal Tournament files from inside zip files and places them in the appropriate directory, for this i needed to know where the unreal tournament directory was, thanks to you i can now ask the user!
Thanks Again

AskWoody LoungerI just plugged all the cable in and run the Home Network setup wizard on both computers. The P3 went ok and finished the wizard but the P4 says it encountered an error and says to configure it manually and i ain’t got a clue. Sorry to sound a bit dull but i’ve only heard of DHCP, i don’t actually know what it is or how it works! the error windows gives me if i try to share the connection using ICS is “An error occured while Internet Connection Sharing was being enabled.
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.”Thanks
Jamie
