Loaded up windows 7 ultimate and scrapped my copy of xp. Everything is humming along great now!

Had a bad part, but i returned it to newegg with no problems (seriously good, efficient customer service over there).

Plugged in my speakers and loaded up my drivers and my new workhorse is allowing my to play high-def minesweeper like a champ!

Windows xp loaded up fine, but now it will not allow me on the internet! Is there a cable i was supposed to connect and didn’t, or a software problem? My machine is supposed to have built-in wireless capability.

Thanks alot guys! I can program and work with most software fine, but all of this hardware stuff is still really new to me. I’m trying my best to learn!

      Thanks again!

My first attempt to boot up wasn’t good. I had a doa cpu.

I shipped everything back to newegg and went out to the local Fry’s, picked up a new motherboard, processor, and video card the next day. I just finished building it in the living room of my new house back at school.

I plugged my monitors in and they detected no signal so i turned everything off and made sure only the primary was connected.

After i did that my system allowed me into the bios! My computer lives!

I still have one problem, my comp isn’t initializing my western digital hard drive. It sees it, and the drive is connected to the power supply, but my memory is in the MB range and it’s not being used. Does anyone know how i can get my computer to recognize my hard drive?

The antec case looks awesome and the fans are actually really quiet (i’ll post a pic pretty soon!)

      thanks!

I don’t think you can do it this way. You’ll have to create a hierarchy to drill down step by step. I refer you again to the links in post #35 earlier in this topic.

I’ve been messing with the demo on that page all day trying to get my fields to mimic that behavior. They’re prepped, but i don’t know how to get at the code to build the event.

I know that there is an event builder, but i’m not familiar with the coding. Do i put the object before or after the command? What commands should i use? I’m reading trying to figure it out, but progress is slow.

How do i build the filter event?

OK, i’ve created a for using the wizard to make combo boxes. I’ve imported my query as a subform on the same page, and i want the combo boxes to filter my subform records. I think i can use the event builder to do this, but i’m not sure how. Does anyone know how i can get this done?

I’ve attached a screenshot of my Form.

Your post is very broad and general, I’ll just touch upon a few points.

You can place a combo box on the main form to let the user search for an employee. If you turn on Use Control Wizardsand place a combo box on the form, Access will start the Combo Box Wizard. Searching for a record based on the selected item will be one of the options in the first step of the wizard. Follow the instructions and the Wizard will write the necessary code for you.

Forms are not really intended to be printed (although it’s possible). Forms are used for viewing, entering and editing data. Reports offer better features for printing.
You could place a command button on the form that opens (or prints) a report filtered for the currently selected employee.

Thanks i’ll keep working on it.

I have run a query that links up my employees to their training courses. The problem is that said query returns 3340 records for 77 employees. I need a clean way to represent the data in this query as an accessable form that my end users can make sense of and use easily, but i’m not sure how to get this information to behave as i’d like it to.

Last_Name/First_Name are unique to each individual and can be represented by text boxes. The same goes for job, it can be represented as a text box because every person is assigned to only one job.

The field Training_Path_Name can have 1 or more values attached to each individual and i want it as a list box.

I need Training represented in a subform or list box below, only displaying those training courses that are associated with each training path.

I’d also like to add each employee’s team and unit associations (not included in my query) to the first part of my form, and the completed training section along the same rows as my training courses in my list box or subform.

I have 77 employees, i want 77 forms with a search function that allows my users to jump to one by typing the person’s last name. I’m going to add a print button to the form and i’d like it to be able to print out all of the trainings and whether or not they are complete (based on a boolean elsewhere in my database).

      ——————————————————————-

I need both an update and an add form that will allow my users to modify employees associations with teams, jobs, and units. This update should cascade to update their necessary trainings.

I also need a similar update/add to trainings that will allow me to reassign trainings a training path/interval/etc.

      ——————————————————————-

I need to be able to keep a historical record of this information. If someone switched jobs i need to know when it happened and what training was completed before and after the switch. It needs to keep track of terminated employees and discontinued trainings.

      ——————————————————————-

Help with any of this is appreciated,

I have a question about fans. My mb will only support like 3-4 fans including my cpu fan. My case has 6 fans with an option to install a 7th. Where/how should i connect all my fans?

      I’ve just ordered my parts!

kind of expensive , but i’m planning on keeping this pc for a long time and using it for school (double majoring in IT and CS).

The processor that i wanted is no longer carried by newegg so I pitched another $35 and bought the newer version. I just ordered dual HD LCD monitors to run my apps on and i’m eager to see how much power i can squeeze out of my pc!

If anyone knows of a good tv tuner i can install into a PCI express slot that will let me watch the Laker away games in San Diego please let me know!

Also if anyone can suggest a good 64GB SSD to use in my pc i’d be grateful. I’ve been looking around, but i’d like to hear opinions on what works and what doesn’t in terms of SSD performance and what the companies that make them have done to deal with some of their issues (I’ve heard some stuff about failure, vulnerability to electrical/magnetic stuff, stuttering).

Also, if anyone has an opinion about what wireless network router i should use please chime in with that. I’m going to be setting up a wireless network for a house with eight guys living in it (School ) and i need a fast, secure network where we can share files and get good connections to the internet. I also want to set up printers with wireless access points so that multiple computers (desktops and laptops) can recognize and print off of the same printers.

It would also be cool to be able to remote into my desktop from my laptop. I don’t live all that close to school and it’s going to be a pain to go all the way home to retrieve information from my desktop or rely on my roomates to retrieve files. If anyone knows good software that will allow me to remote in from my laptop i’d love to know about it (especially if it doesn’t cost much!)

      Thanks for all your help

At the risk of coming in a day late and dollar short …

I like your choices. As for an SS Ddrive, if you can afford it – I say go for it. I picked up a 64GB SSD and used in a system for OS and application software. Have a 500GB hard drive fro storage. I recently picked up an external Hard Drive for backup at Walmart … 1TB (TeraByte) for $100.00.

Walmart also has a Seagate FreeAgent Desk Drive, 1.5TB 7200 RPM, USB 2.0 – Silver.

For a small price – you can add the security of backing up the entire system.

Thanks! I may do just that.

What are the advantages of a SSD? Can i use one drive strictly for booting/processing and another for mass storage without slowing my system?

Lakers??? Being a Boston Celtic fan, , I feel your pain!!

I can’t say one way or another about the hyper-threading thing but overall it looks like a hot system choice there. I am a loyal follower of Gigabyte MBs and products. In fact, that’s my present board that you have chosen. It’s a good rock solid, well constructed and designed one.
Good luck in the construction project. It’s actually quite easy and satisfying when you power up for the first time and it WORKS!
      Not even any smoke!!

Thanks, i spent a while researching and looking around before choosing these parts. It’s gratifying to hear good stuff about the mb!

And as for the Boston Celtics… well we all have our flaws! (jkjk… kinda haha)
