Disregard previous post. I got it to work right in Design view.

      Tom,
Thanks for the post. The SQL suggestion worked fine. I tried to do the same thing in Design View but I couldn’t make it work, even though I know how to use OR logic on two lines. Did you want me to create a second column for Section?

I think he means the one on the corner of Ocean and Beach streets.

      Karen,
Hope this doesn’t make you greener. Just got a reply from Woody who said he’ll be at Starbucks at 8am. He doesn’t see too many Wowsers so he’ll be glad to greet me.

      Thanks, KB.
I’m going to be in Phuket in January and want to look Woody up.

No it doesn’t. See my post # 48634 on 25 June.

Unfortunately, it’s not the same in ME, but thanks for the info on Win 95. Problem was solved by reformatting. See my post of 12 April.

Thanks for the info. I did reformat and restore (see my post of 12 April) and all is well. Since it was a brand new PC it was practically in factory condition, so there was no other software to reinstall.

    • in reply to: Access 97 2-page form #527839

Just figured out what was wrong with my cut and paste. I did not select the Page 1 tab before I pasted, so I really pasted to the underlying form, not the tab. Thanks to all for the help. This forum is the BEST.

      Charlotte:
Thanks for the info on the Tab Controland the clarification on the Cycle property. I followed your suggestion for cutting the controls and pasting them onto the page 1 tab. However, the same controls also end up on page 2! If I drag a control from the Field List to page 1 it works fine. What’s happening here?

    • in reply to: Access 97 2-page form #527723

Tried that. Unfortunately, the form is populated with 20 fields. Adding the Tab Control is best done before the fields are on the form. Doing it after means copying the fields and results in a mess. Got a better way to add Tabs to an existing form?

Don’t know if you saw the reply under my original post, so I’m copying you here.
Thanks for all the responses. Paul, your copy of the mask worked fine. I had a typo in mine, which I didn’t notice, even after eyeballing it several times.

Paul, many thanks for the suggestions. After much thought and discussion with the cemetery folks we’ve decided to clean up the data, then pad the blank Rows with a “phantom” entry like 99. Then all sections will have consistent data for Section, Row and Lot. Then I can create a three-field index, no duplicates.

I tried that on a small subset of clean data and it works fine. When I enter duplicate data and save the record, Access gives me a long-winded error msg saying I’ve entered duplicate data or committed some other infraction. That will work fine for now, but I plan to put some code in the Form to make the msg shorter for the users. I’l probably use the After Update event in the Row field to trigger code that uses Recordset and FindFirst to check if this value already exists. I’ll let you know how that works out.
