Cut and paste from a text file perhaps would ease the task. Or change the router ssdi which is recommended anyway.”
Yes, it is the router’s SSID that I want to change. I will repeat my original question.
Do I have to reconnect all of my devices (using new SSID)?

Thanks to all. All is well on my new Win7 PC.

      Thanks, Jerry, that worked fine.
I use iTunes to sync Outlook with my iPhone. Is there anything special I need to do the first time I sync on the Win7 PC? My iPhone is backed up on the Vista computer, but I hope to avoid restoring because of a mistake on Win7.
If this belongs on another thread, let me Know.

I just rechecked my file size. I have 15 GB of photos alone, so I suspect the total to be in the 30 GB range. So, a flash drive will not do.
I have set up an EZ Xfer folder on my external HD but Win7 says “I don’t have permission to access that folder.” I am familiar with the permissions menus, but can’t seem to get it to work for an account on another PC. What am I missing?

UPDATE: 19:32. I have a third PC on my LAN, a Win7 called Carol. Here is my network:
      New Win7 PC: Acer
Old Vista PC: Howard, with USB external HD.
      Recent Win7: Carol

Acer can access shared folders on Carol. Howard can access shared folders on Carol.
Acer cannot access shared folders on Howard – permission problem.
      I guess it’s a Vista-Win7 problem.
I do not want to tie up Carol for hours doing the transfer to Acer.

      Thanks to all.
Browni’s response was the simplest, and gave me the answer I needed. All the big spenders who have given at least $1000 each time.
However, I am experimenting with the other posts because they have given me new insight into my data as well as some new approaches to using SQL. Previously I had only used the Design grid with a Totals Query.

**After further analysis I found that James Pitcher is correct. I do want those who ALWAYS contribute at least $1000.

      Thanks for the reply.
I installed Office first. After I use Easy Transfer I’ll report back on whether it set up the account info.

The photos were links in her original email, usually an ad. She had to “click here to download photos” in order to see them. If I right click on the white box in my copy I do not get that option, only Copy or Save as Picture. Looks like the link got lost.

    • in reply to: iPhone trouble with Verizon #1358922

Googled the error message and found the following solution on an Apple forum:

Go into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Your Account > Outgoing mail Server SMTP > Primary Server then turn Server ON and fill in both User Name and Password under Outgoing Mail Server.

My server was ON but I needed to fill in the User Name & PW. Weird, because this worked fine before upgrade.
      Hope this helps someone else.

    • in reply to: Boot to DOS #1343983

A doorstop is exactly what I wanted. This laptop had too little memory and HD space to be useful to anyone. I just wanted to be sure that there was no personal data on it and I found a very simple method to ensure that. I will now take it to my town’s hazardous waste disposal where they will recycle what they can and safely get rid of the rest.
Of course, I could have removed the hard drive and recycled the peices separately.
Thanks, again to all who shared this thread, for all the useful tips.

    • in reply to: Boot to DOS #1343906

Thanks to all who responded. I got lots of good, new ideas. However…
I found a program called Window Washer on my laptop. It has an option to make a bootable CD with several “bleaching” functions, including DOD (3 passes) and NSA (7 passes).
Created the CD, booted, and chose NSA. It’s just finishing pass 1 and will take 1 hr and 14 min. to complete. Looks like is does the same as Boot and Nuke.

      RG,
Tried that, got the same error message about drive in use. But, found a solution, Window Washer, on the computer. See note to all below.

    • in reply to: Boot to DOS #1343881

Dan, you are correct on both points. However, I can’t get on the Internet with this old PC so I may have to make the bootable CD from another PC. I never thought format C: would be so complicated!

    • in reply to: Boot to DOS #1343880

Ah, yes, the F8 key! However, in Safe Mode it won’t let me format C: because “Volume is in use by another process”. Then asks if I want to dismount the volume. Yes yields “Cannot lock the volume . Volume is still in use”. Now what?

Unfortunately, Verizon offers only POP3 accounts. The Verizon forums are full of angry Verizon customers asking, pleading, cajoling Verizon to add IMAP, to no avail. There was one suggestion that I may try: “You can sign up for free Gmail account and have Gmail retrieve your Verizon POP email and access it via Gmail IMAP.”
