      Hi,

I looked into the link hitchhiker sent.

I can’t beleive that that huge amount of work is needed to just delete emails. Again, sometimes they just delete, by selecting emails and going to toolbar, i think it is, where ‘delete’ is an option; or right clicking  and selecting delete’.  This often works, but  will act up and just not work as discribed above.

      Thanks for trying.

To b, I don’t know what ‘Tracert to mailserver might help.’ means.

      Please explain. Thanks.

Hi Fred, I feel as if I know you well enough to say it that way.

I am a dabbler, not a novice, but not an expert. I subscribed to Langa List for many years and moved to Windows secrets, in part to follow Fred.

I will miss your columns, and selfishly complain that you have left me. But as a retiree, I wish you much success in your future experiences.

    • in reply to: my PowerSpec win 10 machine does not see 21H1 as an update #2404703

Thank you for sending me this information on windows updates.

Looking over the Group policy information, I see I will need to take some time to set deferrals.

Also, looking at how this is done, I am quite clear that I never did this.[set deferral].

Do you have any ideas on how to search to see why my updates have stopped at 20H2?

At this point I do want to get the 21 updates.  I may or may not set deferrals later.

      I don’t know how.

      I currently have Win 10 pro Version 20H2 [OS build 19042. 1348]

Thanks for all of your help.

      win10 Pro

Not sure. I have gone to settings/ clicked on ‘pause for 7’; then clicked on ‘resume updates’.

When I check for updates, I still get ‘you are up to date’.

Although I have win pro, I don’t know how else to change deferral.

Hi, That was great, about the font.
in the message, it was set fro 428%. Great. thanks.

Re: the build, I went to outlook/file/office account/about outlook
the entire line says  “Microsoft Outlook for Microsoft 365 MSO [16.0.12730.20144] 32-bit”
I don’t know, but I guess it doesn’t matter that the version I have is not listed in

      https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/update-history-microsoft365-apps-by-date

I really appreciate the help about the search and the font.

      Thanks

That is where I saw a build in May that ended in

    • in reply to: Outlook 365 fonts suddenly too large #2261056

I did try to update office. It seemed to try, but stayed at the one ending in ..44

      No idea why?

    • in reply to: Outlook 365 fonts suddenly too large #2261050

Sorry. You are right. i do have ‘view’ on ribbon, it is just that the sort function is not there.

I guess ms has changed it to have it at top of pane with list of emails. It says ‘By Date’

and you are right the Search function is no longer at top of list of emails, but is at top of entire ‘outlook page.

They must have changed when MS sent a new build.

Now having found the ‘about’ in Office, I showed you the build Number as

MSO [16.0.12730.20144]    When I found this page https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/officeupdates/update-history-microsoft365-apps-by-date  it shows updates ending in 20152,. This is in monthly updates. I guess I need to get newest update.

So both of those problems are not problem but FEATURES. I hate when windows and office do these thing. Especially if ms does not tell you

I will have to update office.

Going back to the ‘too large’ font; when I sent myself an email, actual email shows proper size of font. But when writing it, is when it shows as about an inch high font.

Any idea how to fix that. It is disturbing to only be able to write a few words before the apge is full.

I am glad it does not send the large font.

      Again, thank you.

    • in reply to: Outlook 365 fonts suddenly too large #2261023

Sorry, I did not know how to find the Office 365 info..

Thank you for that. my version seems to be=MSO [16.0.12730.20144]  It seems I can’t copy and paste the office info from that page.

      1. RE. size of Fonts. I have the size set up to be 14 pt. in that section. BUT in last 3-4 days, it shows up as about one inch tall letters. I don’t know why this has happened.

Looking at the page you sent, it does not look like my issue is solved.

      2. The picture on that page shows: ‘view’ listed on top line of window, just under the blue line.

      3. The page also shows a search box above the list of emails. That search box is what is missing in part 3 of my question.

I appreciate your help, but I don’t think you have solved the issues.

They all appeared at about the same time.

    • in reply to: Outlook 365 fonts suddenly too large #2260801

Again, I am sorry about gobbledegoop. there was a note to remove HTML by using ‘text’ rather than ‘visual’ when I copy the question.

I will do that next time.

      WOW!!
Windows secrets Lounge folk are great..I had been so frustrated. Somewhere I read that with an Exchange account there was no way to have the other account open first. But You saved the day.
Thank you so much. You made me a Happy Camper.

    • in reply to: Moving email address up in the list in Outlook 2013 #1589490

I have similar issue. I use Win 10 and outlook 2010.
The problem is the two email accounts I use are an IMAP one with Comcast[my main email] and my school account with an Exchange account.
I have been able to put the IMAP at top of the list, but the Exchange always opens first.
More importantly, even while replying to an email in the Comcast account, the reply goes from the Exchange account.
Since I do not always check the Exchange/edu account every day, I often thing someone has not replied to me. Then I am not responding to their reply. that make me fell $%^##^.

      Any ideas??
      Thanks.

    • in reply to: password problem #1564920

      Thank you. It finally worked.
Oddly, the cmd showed ‘no password’ was set up[ That was what I thought].
But even with ‘no password’, when I told it to blank or remove the [non-existent] password. it did and it all opened normally.

Again thank you. Sorry it took me so long to get it done.

    • in reply to: Problems in Outlook mail navigation pane #1523159

Well, I spoke to a Comcast tech. She told me Comcast does NOT support IMAP. I read her the information from Comcast’s web site with directions for doing it, dated Feb. 2015.
She said, ‘yes, they had, but were having troubles with their servers, so they stopped.
She, of course, had not answer about Comcast did not notify it’s customers who use IMAP.
Thank you for all your help.

Well, I found a way at this site to get the old profile back without opening ‘mail’ in control panel.
I am waiting on Comcast tech support. We will see how they do.

    • in reply to: Problems in Outlook mail navigation pane #1523154

Hi, As I often do, I tried this on my machine first. That can save hurt feelings. So I set up new profile, after exporting the PST.
On my machine it worked fine.
I exported her PST. no problem.
However, when I set up her yahoo, I can not get Outlook to send email.
So, I decided to go back to original profile , until I could get more time. NOW, when I go to Control panel, it will not open. In control panel, the other icons will open, but not Mail. I tried both Left clicking and and right clicking the left click n Open.
      No luck.
