Thanks John and to everyone for their advice.

I think this is what the company wants but I am not sure that they would be willing to spend 50-100K. With the amount they have in mind, I don’t think they are going to get the seamless swap if the main server fails. I think they’re under the impression that when one goes down they won’t know its happened unless they’re told.

As to a steep learning curve, lets hope I go up and not down!

      Regard

Thank you for the links. As to your question, 1) we can’t afford to be down, 2) the data needs to be current 3)Lots of money but they want to keep the cost to a minimum.

What happened last month was the hard drive on the server failed and the idiot who was supposed to be doing the back ups hadn’t been diong their job. Luckily we were able to rescue a lot of the information but it was chaos for a week. The idea was that two new servers would sit side by side with one would be mirroring (RAID) the other so if something happened we could switch over immediately. One person in the office said that this can be done without cloning software. Their IT credentials are less than mine, but I have to investigate. So again the question is, do we have to buy cloning or mirroring software or is this just a rouse by the IT company to get us to spend more money.

      Thanks for your time.

If you mean by ‘convection oven’, what we here in Britain call a fan assisted oven, you bet that turkey will be done way before you need it to be. I over-cooked several things before I got used to the shorter cooking times. I wouldn’t hazard to give you advice on what you should do now. Poultry is a scary thing, visions of food poisoning! BUT…… If it was me, I would cover the turkey with bacon to keep it moist and cover the lot with foil, let it finish cooking and accept that it will be ready early. (Most likely the bacon won’t be crispy, you can grill it afterwards and let the guests fight over it.)

    • in reply to: Make slides from bulleted list? (2000) #877922

Do you want to keep your original bulleted list or did you want to quickly make independent slides for each bullet rather than having to retype?

If you want to break up a list into separate slides go to the outline pane and insert your cursor at the end of each bulleted text

Press the promote (make sure it is not the demote) button on the tool bar. This will take that bullet and any bullets after it onto a new slide. The bullet that was promoted will be the title. Repeat to break up the rest of the list.

      Good point.

The workbook is in month order, and hopefully no one will decide to rearrange the months of the year! But you never know there could be an executive decision!

Thanks for the warning and I have two formulas to fall back on.

I worship at your feet. starstruck

This works great. We don’t encourage different first page headers/footers. No one ever uses them properly and can’t figure out what is going wrong when someone does.

I have the same problem when creating the company address list
I use ASAP Utilities which is free . http://www.asap-utilities.com[/url%5D
It has an option to remove hyperlinks from selected cells.

      Thank you Steve and Hans

Both recommendations work fine. I just have to decide now which method I am going to use.
