In the FF address bar (which currently for me is showing a nice picture of Lex http://www.wopr.com/cig-bin etc etc), all I did was type in file///g:/hetty and it went straight to the directory. Then it was a simple File/Print. Basic file structure, but enough to see what is on the drive when trying to do a bit of file housekeeping.

      Hope my explaination is clear

By coincidence I was reading the J-Walk blog and this topic came up and someone who posted a comment said it could be done in Firefox. So, I have downloaded the browser and it certainly did what I wanted it to do.

      Hans

Thanks for this. All I can say is Microsoft are a bunch of idiots.

I have Karenware on my PC and use it quite often for my own use. I was hoping that I could pass the easy Outlook option on to the other people in the office. I don’t really want to have to install it on their PCs and show them how to use is. Tends to go in one ear and out the other.

      Hello Hans

I had tried these… tried again but still doesn’t work

Checked the printer queue, nothing seems to be going to the printer but a colleague, who shares my printer, can print selected pages or ranges.

      Mystery…..

Thank you Thank you Thank you.

Mine was OLK54, it was full of other things but deleting the images got rid of the phantom photos.

I have added the path to Favorites so I can keep it sorted. Any idea on how to prevent these things lingering there?

      John
Sorry to take so long getting back. The error I kept getting was about compatibility. The solution was to create a legacy file. Open the pst file in Outlook XP then transfer the contact cards into it then transfer it back to my pc. Seemed to work.

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions,

I checked, and the files are not read only. We’re still working on it, and I shall respond once we have a solution or figure out what happened.

Thanks Maury and Hans for your advice.

    • in reply to: pdf splitter #969070

I have downloaded pdf995 software (freeware version). It allows me create pdfs, using the pdfedit, I have been able to extract pages and create different pdf files and combine pdf files.

So far this is doing what I wanted. We had a pdf that we had to send by e-mail and it was over 25 megbytes. The guy we were sending it to on his boat in Monte Carlo said he would have to wait all night for it to come through! That was the last thing we wanted to hear last night at half past seven!!!

But I do think we should get at least Adobe Standard.

If you want to purchase a cracking package, I can recommend Ultimate Zip Cracker. It is easy to use. Some of the passwords I have encountered to open the workbook were quite long but it didn’t take very long to get the password.

I have had a dialogue , with the Lexar, the manufacturer, via e-mail and their website. They are going to replace the device and try to recover the data…that is as soon as I can fill out the on-line form that doens’t want to accept the UK as location and continues to default back to USA. sigh

I shall give a these both a try. I need to warn friends for being so overly ambitious with my limited IT skills

Thanks for the tip. Have you used Fresh View? The only reason I am asking is that they require an e-mail address (non-hotmail etc) for the access codes. I tend to stay away from these unless they have been recommended only because I am wary of getting spam.

If I export, it copies. If I go File/Archive, then it should move the files to a .pst which I will store on elsewhere, such as on a disk or a space on the server.

    • in reply to: Archive not removing from folders (2000) #942526

      Hello

I checked the folder options and autoarchive has not been selected, which I think is the correct setting as I want to manually archive. I once had autoarchive set and my e-mails etc disappeared, shook me up until I found them on the c: drive.

Reading in Microsoft support that if the outlook is installed for corporate or workgroup and the mailbox is full you can’t archive and the work around is to increase the mailbox, clean out your stuff, then archive.

Since my original post, a couple PC’s that haven’t exceeded their mailbox limit are not archiving properly. scream
