AskWoody LoungerThis is brand new, Joe. I had been harping at them for a few days. Good to see that they might try to keep up to it.
Have a nice evening. Jean.

AskWoody LoungerCoochin, hello.
I read this and did it on my machine and it solved my Ethernet problem fine. I had never seen this prompt before, thanks for leading the way.
Much obliged. Jean.

AskWoody LoungerGood morn, Tom.
A great solution was mentioned here. If you go back a little, you will see a mention by wexmary who lost her connection. Coochin was nice enough to mention that in Settings -> Network & Internet, at the very bottom of that page one finds “Reset Network”. For the fun of it, I did and it fixed all my problems. The built-in Ethernet is now happy as I am too. That was yesterday and still working this morning.
There are so many items in this OS that I had never seen this, I will keep it in mind for sure.
Be good and thanks again for your help. Jean.

AskWoody LoungerTom, hello.
Does your normal Ethernet work in Safe Mode with Networking and/or does it have a yellow alert in Device Manager ?
That yellow alert is there continuously.
If both the card and USB are fitted then one could be conflicting the other, regardless of whether they appear to be working or not.[/QUOTE]
No, no, one at the time is fair enough. Be good. Jean.

AskWoody LoungerHello, Tom. How are you ?
I now have all bases covered and proved it this morning. Surprise ! When booting the Toshiba that is reluctant to connect on the Intel Pro Wireless, it was getting Insiders 25055. Needless to say, I did not disturb it in the least and it ran to completion.
But no way can use the driver for the Ethernet. I had in the mean time, validated two other cards, one PCMCIA and on USB and both of them are useable in this install. The little USB one will more than likely be a resident now.
I have mentioned this to Feedback Hub, specifying the model # of the built-in Ethernet that was seen in 14393 but never since, regardless of how I try to get it up and running.
When there is a will, there is a way. Thanks for your support. Jean. -

AskWoody LoungerTom, good day.
The reference to Jim was for his help in quoting you properly. This site is full of helpers as you are one, also is Jim. In my post #11, you can see that his fine guidance led me on to better formatting of a quote from you.I am forever dependant on persons like you two and more. Tremendous site !
Edit: Tom, eureka ! Total success. Today, the W/L would not connect, I ignore why. So I followed your instructions and used the ” Let me pick ” option and it worked, yeah ! Learning all the time.
Be good. Jean.

AskWoody LoungerTom, I might be getting the gist of it all by now.
Close that window, right click on the adapter and select Update Driver Software/Browse my computer/Let me pick…
Thanks. Jean.

AskWoody LoungerHello,
<<>>
Your suggestion ! Unless I misunderstood you. I should be able to insert this driver into the next Insiders Install , time will tell. I have not tried this yet as it came from this install, no need.
-
WShandcuff36
AskWoody LoungerI found the driver file and now have it on my Desktop. Thanks for the push. Jean.

AskWoody LoungerGood morn, Tom.
<<>>
Never late, thankyou. This was done and indeed, it showed a yellow alert on the W/L device, I could not get rid of it.
<<>>
More than likely. At the moment, back on previous OS all is copacetic. So, 15042 crunged it all.
<<>>
It never occurred to me that the driver could be imported from a known working OS, I shall investigate this further but at the moment, all is fine and I am on that machine, it does connect.
<<>>
Another new procedure, I have yet to see this : Let me pick..
<<>>
This driver shows no date, just a version number i.e.: 13.3.0.137. I have it noted ! How to extract it now to save on a USB key ?

AskWoody LoungerTom, hello.
I did go there and it gave me 15042, I am still trying to get 15048. It would be nice if they did update this to their latest.
Like this last one, I had connecting trouble, no WiFi. Ethernet was fine. I am back on 14393 as I did not want to face loosing all my apps on RESET as an option in Recovery.
Thanks for coming back to me. -

Thanks for your help and Bruce too.

AskWoody LoungerTom, this is new in 15046, it went away easily before, Jean.

AskWoody LoungerJoe, it says: ” hide the button next to the new tab button that opens Microsoft Edge.”
Go to Control Panel -> Internet Option -> Advanced , there you are. ( You knew this ! ) Jean.
