If you decide to get back on the Linux horse again you might want to post some questions at the links below, I’ve found if you do your part they’re extremely generous with their knowledge. I found posts by Grogan to be especially helpful. Greg

We use Excel 2000 and a HP 750c plotter but this might help, from Excel: File, Print, select plotter, click Properties button, from the paper size tab click on the More sizes button, in the custom paper size section enter your dimensions.

Thank You, the video setting was Windows Classic but changing it to standard then back to classic seemed to permanently refresh the display settings and resolve the issue.

Great sadness, it was so practical. Your fast response will keep me from wasting more time on a memory. Thanks, Greg

Thanks Steve, I knew I’d have trouble describing what I was after, this might clarify things. I have a working excel shortcut, it starts excel just fine, to actually start working on a spreadsheet the next step would be to click on the “open” icon (or file, open) this brings up the window I’d like to have a shortcut to so when I double-clicked on it excel would start with the “open” window already opened so he’s ready to browse to the file he wants to open. I’ve attached a picture of the open window I’m referring to. Greg

Have you verified and refreshed the Bios setting, a surge could have affected these or you could have damaged the interface. Have your tried the HD on a different PC? Greg

Thanks Mike, those port numbers should come in handy. Our consultant has been experimenting with SSH, we’ll see how it goes.

We’ve used pdf995 for about a year to send AutoCAD drawings and specs to clients. You use it like a printer, when you print it creates a pdf file instead. The free version shows 3 commercials every time you use it but for $10 you can make them not appear. Sorry, I can’t remember the syntax to make this a link.

Jefferson, Thanks for the lead. I did get the pop and smtp switched in my post. I’m hoping for a solution that’s already proved itself over time (I’m also hoping to win the lottery, I just have to remember to buy the ticket)
