Would a nested if fill the bill, a la:

      =IF(A1=5,”Yes”,(IF(A15,,”WTF”)))

It appears to meet all the stated conditions when I try it. I’m not a programmer–I just play one on TV, so glad to defer to those more knowledgeable.

    • in reply to: KeePass on Android #1510749

I haven’t had time to experiment yet, but this:
      http://keepass.info/help/v2/sync.html
appears to indicate it would be possible to sync a native file with a more limited file stored on the cloud. I am saying again I have not experimented with it, but if you feel a need to, flame away. Please try to make the sarcasm at least mildly amusing, though, because petulance just makes me regret following threads.

    • If you are feeling altruistic enough to share your wireless bandwith with in-range users (e.g. traveling salesmen, google streets trucks, the kids next door circumventing parental controls, folks who can’t afford internet service), I might suggest checking out:
      https://openwireless.org/

Of course if you don’t mind donating it to your ISP to use as they see fit, it appears Comcast opts you in automatically.

I’ve been using KeePass on Windows and K2A for years with no problems. Some great tips in this thread, so I don’t have much useful to add other than “works for me”!

    • in reply to: HDMI Video card addition? #1479861

As long as the video card is compatible with your mobo, that should work fine..

    • in reply to: Using If,And,Or statements #1463539

Try this one. The example is from the righmost 2 columns.

      =IF(S2>=4,(IF(R2>=4,”Yes”,”No”)),”No”)

Also, I was curious why the two-year periods were segregated. If that’s what’s required, then I guess you live with it, but if the idea is to determine bonus eligibility based on two consecutive “4 or better” years, the attached spreadsheet will get you there. Also applied some conditional formatting to highlight the winners and losers (and non-players, by default!).

      Have fun!

    • I built an Ivy bridge z77 V Pro box a while back and tried to install XP from a full retail disk . Don’t remember all the details, but it was painful and appeared to require some sort of secret voodoo USB-stick-driver-install routine that I couldn’t get to work. I gave up and went with Win7. Not to be a smart aleck, but why not just buy a cheap used XP box with a good mobo?

    • in reply to: The word on VLC #1416142

I know of a number of otherwise respectable download sites that have taken up the practice of generating revenue by forcing downloaders to “consider” downloading bloatware before they are allowed to download the software they came to the site for. It can be difficult to identify these other offers and distinguish them from things you must agree to before you are presented with actual links to download the software you want. Browser producers routinely enter these kinds of deals with “toolbar” companies as well. I spend some time every now and then removing such resource-hogging bloat from users’ machines. For CNET at least, if you VERY CAREFULLY read every screen presented to you as you try to download, you can decline offers, uncheck checkboxes that indicate you want to install add-on software, and so on. It’s been a while, but last time I used that site, I think there were five or six of those things I had to do before it sent the download. Of course as others have commented, there are much more malicious download sites out there too.

Oh yeah, VLC is awesome. Plays a great deal of file types others won’t, has a good community developing extensions, skins and so forth, and crashes much less often than some other players. Be sure to assign all video types to it during install, and you can double-click-open files without launching a certain Redmond- spawned product of dubious functionality.

    • in reply to: Downloading an Android app #1412997

Also, your “app” might be a “widget”. Click on the “apps” icon on the lower right corner. At the top of the page that comes up, click on “widgets”. See if it’s there. I have a clock/weather “widget” on my S3.

    • in reply to: Disabling “Allow row to break across pages” #1393468

Good stuff. “Keep with next” looks like the easiest workaround. Sweep select everything but the last cell:

      34020-table1

Set the Paragraph>>keep with next. (I also cleared “Widow/orphan” control, but don’t know if that contributed anything.) Then you can select the entire “bracket”:

      34021-Table2

And copy>>past/append to your heart’s content and it will always break the way you want.

      34022-table3

    • Without all the details of your set-up, it’s hard to say what might be best. Easiest might be to sync outlook to your device (if you have appropriate permissions), then let the device sync with Google calendar. I use Kies on my Samsung. A bit buggy, but gets the job done. There are a number of apps for syncing to your device, some free some paid, some specific to particular manufacturers, and so on. I sync via usb cable, and can then set up sync to google calendar from the phone. I haven’t really needed google calendar since I have contacts, calendar, etc. in my pocket wherever I go, so haven’t synced to the google cloud on a while.

    • in reply to: Two formatting problems #1393284

      A couple thoughts:
      1. Make sure you have selected the entire paragraph before you try to change the style.
      2. I’m Using Office ’07, so not sure where the settings are in other versions, but you can modify the “Normal” style as well. In the “Modify Style” pop-up up window, at the bottom is a “Format” button you can click, then click “Paragraph” and change the spacings. Then back in the “Modify Style” pop-up up window, Click the “New documents based on this template” radio button. Hopefully that will keep your preferred paragraph setting.

    • in reply to: Recommend heat monitor? #1389930

I like RealTemp, but it’s only for some Intel CPU’s. I’ll have to give HWmonitor a spin on my “toybox.” I’ve used CPUID’s CPU-Z and like it.

    • in reply to: Bios not booting, very grateful if anyone helps #1384949

You will need to see where your BIOS is attempting to boot from. It may be that your system is partially booting from a corrupt file or set of files, possibly caused by the partition deletion. There are different keys to press for different systems to get to the BIOS. Usually it involves holding down a particular key or key combination during start-up (F8, or Alt-F1, for example). Do a search on your model and “accessing BIOS”. See what the BIOS lists as the boot order, and move the CD drive to the first position (meaning the computer will check there first for a bootable image, like your ultimate boot disk).

    • in reply to: Attempting to cc: myself in e-mail #1278355

Not sure this will help as I am in Outlook 2007 and wanted an easy way to do what you are trying for a diff. reason. I wanted to “BCC” a large list of people but did not want them all to see each other’s addresses. Outlook would not send without something in the “To” line, so I added a contact for myself in my address book, put that in the “To” line, and it worked. Maybe worth a try.
