I just answered all of the questions in the Wizard with lies, and then went in and then imported the *.iaf files from my floppie. Seems to have worked.

    • in reply to: operating system upgrade #544628

I will be getting a big, fast machine, so I don’t expect any hardware limitations.

    • in reply to: operating system upgrade #544366

No network, single machine operating in my home, so security is no big deal. I run Office applications with substantial Access applications. Also internet stuff, including VoIP. My main problem has always been stability. I don’t want to continue the hang-ups and crashes.

      Great! Thank you.

    • in reply to: Unwanted frames (Win 95/Of 97) #542735

It was the “text boundaries” check box. I don’t know how I did that.

Thanks for finding a very dumb mistake.

    • in reply to: Unwanted frames (Win 95/Of 97) #542664

Here is a file bases one of the templates. Please take a look.

    • in reply to: Unwanted frames (Win 95/Of 97) #542595

Thanks for the comments. I cannot select nor delete the frame, if frame is the correct term. It is in two of my templates, but I ended up having to delete the template to get rid of the frame!

    • in reply to: Security settings (Win 95/Of 97) #541610

My stupid mistake. I had included an “s” in the http part of the address. It all makes sense now. Thank you for your help.

    • in reply to: Security settings (Win 95/Of 97) #541513

I added Yahoo to the Trusted Sites list, but no help. I looked at the security certificate, and it is dated 8/7/2000 to 8/8/2001. In other words, it is expired. How do you renew these things?

    • in reply to: Win 95/Of95 (SR1) #540431

Great! Thanks to all for the help.

    • in reply to: Different versions of Windows #538129

Thanks for the comments. Could you expand on your thinking of why the Windows XP Pro and not the Personal? It is, after all, a home PC with no multiprocessors nor nets.

    • in reply to: Compare bundled software with Microsoft source #538058

I quote from a footnote on an IBM Thinkpad spec sheet – “Software provided with a machine or separately purchased as a software bundle may differ from its retail version and may not include user manuals or all program functionality.” This makes me nervous. Your comments, please.

    • in reply to: Version of Office #538054

Thanks. What are the differences between Professional and Normal versions? I believe that Windows has the same distinctions with a Professional and Normal version. What is that about?

    • in reply to: Registry file #535407

All very clear. I will do it that way. Thank you very much for your help (and patience).

    • in reply to: Registry file #535397

I assume that you recommend that I copy the registry to the HD, and then back-up the copy, rather than back it up directly. Sounds logical. Thank you for the comments. How do I export the registry to the HD?
