A typical MS trick – the patch is only available “on request” which means you have to contact Microsoft product support directly and ask for the fix – it’s not downloadable.

I can’t help you with the first part of your problem as I’ve never had this happen in the three years I’ve been using Eudora. However, with regard to saving ourtgoing messages in separate mailboxes, that is definitely a possiblity in the version 5.1 that I’m using. When I send all outgoing messages are dumped into the outbox as you say, however, you can then transfer those messages to the mailbox of your choice either by dragging & dropping them or using the right click menu. I do this periodically in order to keep the out box clean since I was advised that full in and out boxes slow the application down at startup.

      Hope this helps

      Hi Dave
I was having the same problem with my new Dell with Win XP Home until I shut off the Internet time synchronization supplied by MS and started using another time synchronizer. I don’t know exactly what causes the problem, but with my machine, whenever the time was synchronized (once a week is the MS default) the computer would start losing time untill I rebooted it. I tried both the options provided by MS before turning off this feature.

Am now using Atomic TimeSync from AnalogX and haven’t had any more problems. Hope this helps.

Sounds like your toolbars are locked – if you right click on an empty area of any of the toolbars, you should see an option “lock toolbars” Click on it to remove the check mark beside it and you should then be able to adjust your explorer bar to your heart’s content.

      Hope this helps

Thanks for catching that Leif – I never use that Favorites Icon so keep forgetting to qualify my reference to favorites as being the menu option rather than the icon – will try to keep that in mind in the future. newbrain

I’ve never used the export wizard myself but regularly update my favorites folders between home and work by just copying the folder(s) and bookmarks I want to add to whichever list of favorites. By holding down the shift key when clicking on “organize favorites” – your favorites folder will open in windows explorer and you can manipulate the folders and contents as you would any other file/folder on your system – i.e. copy, move, zip etc. On the other machine, the selected files can be copied into the favorites folder using windows explorer as well.
      Hope this helps

Thanks Rich, that’s all I needed to hear – will give it a try today. smile

    • in reply to: Rotate Image #561601

Even neater – if you choose “filmstrip” view, you don’t even have to right click – the selected picture is previewed right in explorer and the rotate buttons are shown below it… cool… I’m learning new things about XP every day!

    • in reply to: Rotate Image #561598

Are you viewing your “my Pictures” in “thumbnail” view mode? That’s the only way I can get the rotate option on the right click menu with my Windows XP explorer.
If you don’t want to use thumbnail view, then Merc’s suggestion is the next best thing.

You may want to advise emazing.com that their tip on this is missing a bit of info (the thumbnail part). they do have a feedback email address on their website.

    • in reply to: File Transfers bet. Home & Work #561352

Have you considered Laplink? My husband uses it both for file transfers between home and work and for remote controlling my mother’s PC in Canada (we’re in Holland) to help her with upgrades and maintenance etc. and it works like a charm.
      Hope this helps.

    • in reply to: Show Folder Size in Windows Explorer? #561337

      Hi M.
in Win XP the Windows Explorer will show the folder size if you turn on the status bar. To do this go to View menu and make sure there is a check mark beside the second option on the drop down menu “status bar”.
It took me a while to figure that one out as well when I first started using XP. This also applies to the Recycle bin – although you may have to repeat the process there since it starts a separate instance of explorer.

Definitely looks interesting but the website doesn’t say anything about whether or not it will work under Win XP. Have only had XP for a couple of weeks so am still leery of attempting new software that doesn’t specify compatibility… don’t want to mess up my pristine new system angel (or just plain gutless) – if anyone has Xperience with this combination I’d appreciate hearing about it.

    • Hi this may be a long shot – or you may have already tried it, but when my hubby ran into problems with Word 2K not wanting to open, we renamed Normal.dot and let Word generate a new one at next open. This worked for him…hope it does the trick for you. (his problem was not virus related, but just as much of a mystery situation – corruption of Normal.dot really messes up Word.)

For additional info on this see the WORD MVP site

    • in reply to: Browse Fonts? #556759

Web Attack has a nice group of freebie font tools as well – at least one of which provides a browse capability similar to what PSP has for graphics. Specifically, Font Selector & Font glancer seem to offer what you’re looking for.
      Hope this helps.
