    • In case anyone runs across this in the future, there is a fix for this problem. You can either apply the next service release, or you can obtain a fix from Microsoft. I don’t have the KB article number available though. sorry!

    • in reply to: macro to specify number (VBA Office XP) #810716

Thanks. That gave me the basis I needed. I ended up using a collection of auto text entries to build a series of documents based on choices on a userform, but this was the basis of the code. Thanks!!!!

Try this link: http://www.outlookcode.com/d/forms/survey.htm%5B/url%5D. You’ll probably have to do a bit of tweaking, but hopefully it will give you a starting point.

Thanks for the info. Actually, the printers are either HP 4000 or 4100’s, and we are using the PCL 5e driver. We haven’t been able to find another driver that works as well – even though it is very buggy! The 5e is the only one we have found that shows the paper type in Word’s page setup. What are you using instead??

    • in reply to: page numbers (2000) #807184

For the first page: Go to File–>Page Setup–>Layout an check off the different first page option.
For the next pages: View–>Header and Footer and use auto text to insert the page number. Then go to Insert–>Page Numbers–>Format. This brings up the Page Number Format box, and from here you can set up the number the way you want it. Once you have set up the number the way that you want it to appear, click OK on the Page Number Format Menu and Close on the Page Number menu (DO NOT CLICK OK ON THE PAGE NUMBER MENU BECAUSE IT WILL INSERT THE NUMBER INCORRECTLY)
For the first page that you want to appear with 1,2,3: You were right about the section break. (If you think that the section break has not been inserted, try viewing the page in Normal view and turn on all the paragraph marks and character marks by clicking on the paragraph symbol on the general toolbar.) Insert a next page section break above the first line of text for the page that should be numbered “1”. Then go into that footer and turn off “same as previous”. Then repeat the process you did to set up the previous pages.
      Hope this helps!
