Success! Changed the word “show” to “open” in the Registry and it works. Only slideshow11 had “show”. So glad the article had a picture. Thanks to all. I have learned where certain things are in Control panel also. Den

Jerry, Thanks for reply. I was incorrectly trying to follow XP instructions, but have Vista. Still, the Default programs lists Powerpoint Viewer for .pps and several other extensions. Did download newest viewer several times from microsft. File will open if I copy the file to c drive and open from there. Cumbersome, but perhaps a clue is hidden there. Thanks, Den

Thanks Fred, Will try that. Your procedure is well explained. Need to get imaging/backup software. As I learned the hard way, the residue left behind in the Registry can drastically slow down boot times, etc. Dealing with double whammy snowstorm here near Pittsburgh, but luckily have electrical power. Thanks again, Fetz

De-crapifier didn’t find Snapfish. Is it known by another name in Add/Remove programs? Looks like free Revo may not get rid of registry stuff. Will try in a few days. Have a glitchy power supply that I replaced in the meantime that corrupted Vista and required a Recovery from partitition(another pain with pre-installed software-no repair option). Thanks for all your help.

    • in reply to: Is there something similar to Fdisk in Vista? #1192503

Was away for a few days. Thanks for all your suggestions. Will try them all. OEM version on separate partition, but I made data DVD copy(3 disks). Have a 500G disk that I tried to format on a 10 year old motherboard with win2000. That computer would only see 129G. Motherboard issues?(48 bit limitations?). You gave me lots of ideas to experiment with on the Vista computer. Thanks again.
