Two replies dissappeared. Don’t know why.
      Thanks Hans.

For others with the same problem. This thread nails it.

      Thaks Don,
The folks that will be using this document won’t be able to do this. Just went through a similar situation with another user. Very frustrating.

      Thanks Hans,
As usual you’re right on the nose. This is exactly what my user was looking for. I gave you full credit for the fix
To turn off the lock however it’s Ctrl+Shft+F11 (not F9) probably a mistype.

Repaired db then re- installed Access, Now it works (???). Not sure exactly what fixed it or what happened to cause the problem.
      Thanks all for your support.

Nothing huh? Thought it may be a glitch in 07. It must be a problem with my database or installation. Thanks anyway folks I appreciate your attention to the matter. Guess I’ll try to repair and if that don’t work, re-install.

      Hi Hans and thanks again.
I am using Access 2003 at work where I developed the database, but have version 2007 at home where I’m having the problem. Works fine at work. Works fine at home (fast too) once it’s closed and re-opened.

Thanks for the quick reply Hans. I saved and closed the table before running the report, but the newly checked record still does not appear on the report unless I close and re-open the database. I have done this several times now, this action is consistent. Never seen anything like this before.

      Directly in the table.

      Hi Hans,

Once again, you’ve nailed it. It works perfectly.

      Thanks

Thanks again Hans. You’re right as usual. I was fooled by the Access help files.

    • in reply to: Required fields (2003) #1105969

When I duplicate the creation of the practice table that I use in class, the allow zero length property is set to yes by default on all my text fields.
The help files say that no is the default setting (it always has been in all the classes that I’ve taught). I’m just wondering what changed and when it changed.
Does anyone know how I can change the default back to no?

    • in reply to: Required fields (2003) #1105902

      Hi Hans,
Wow, kind of a big hole isn’t it.

    • in reply to: Required fields (2003) #1105892

Thanks Hans, didn’t notice that. However, when I change Allow zero length string back to no, I can still open and close both the table and form with no info in the required field (it’s a soc sec number field). This shouldn’t be allowed to happen should it, the field even has an input mask, I would think one or the other properties should take care of this, no?
