If you go to this post
      wopr.com/index.php?showtopic=761504&hl=
download the file that I placed there, and follow the instructions.
You will be surprised with the ease and flexibility of this method. I have printed the file, laminated it and keep it close at all times

    • Open Explorer, Set the view you require, then Tools, Folder Options, View Tab, Apply To All Folders

I was not aware of this behaviour, but I have had a look and found that what you say is correct, however to overcome the action I checked the box “Use Wildcards” this worked for me in Word 2003.
By the way your link at the bottom of your post is (I think) incorrect.

      http://www.myfonts.com/support/help_install_win.html#opentruetype

What was the free font site’s address?

My advice, don’t load too many they slow the startup

I do have a True Type Character Set code in doc format which I will try and attach, don’t know where I got it from. Apologies to anybody who has prior claims

    • in reply to: How to get the pi symbol? #1151798

      The method I use is:—

Change the font to Symbol, hold the Alt key down and type 112 on the numeric keypad.

I have a KVM switch, controlling three systems. It is a four port. It does audio as well, I would not be without it. My reason was space, one monitor, one keyboard, one mouse, one set of speakers. Transfer is instantaneous.
The one mistake I made was that the transfer is generally 2 quick taps on the scroll lock key, the keyboard I purchased does not have one. I reassigned the ctrl key. More details if you require.

My apologies, I knew what I meant???
When I wrote there was nothing on the CD, the files were. What I meant was there was not a readme file. The site I mentioned explains the options

      If you go to
      support.microsoft.com/kb/322389/
      Look under More Information
I purchased the CD from Microsoft, there is nothing on the CD. But I found the above site at Microsoft.
      Good Luck

Hi Duchess, like yourself I was not keen on installing XP-SP3 finally after several “Error Messages” from Microsoft I relented on 14 February 2009, there is a post under “Malicious software removal tool” in the forum “General Windows Solutions” I cannot find the post number on the new software. I have been amazed at the increase in speed. No adverse effects. From what I can find the post was number 759059 but as previously stated can’t find this information on the new forum software. It is there I think with a post number 759055

    • in reply to: Install/update problem (3.5 SP1) #1149470

I do not understand why, I ran live update (being the end of the month) the whole process took a few minutes and it now appears as though the update has been installed.
I have run live update since and there are no updates to be installed.
Thanks for the help once again.

Thanks Hans, as I stated in the last post I do not know what it does or why I have I have got the program. If I have capacity at the end of the month I will let the install go once again. If that is unsuccessful I will follow you advice. The Woody’s article is interesting.
Does having .Net installed assist the O/S or IE7 or is it just like another program?

    • in reply to: Install/update problem (3.5 SP1) #1148289

Thank you for your interest, the problem has not caused any malfunction of the system. I have decided to wait until the end of the month, and download the file again (I only get 2G a month) and then evaluate. I do not even know what .Net is for excepting that it is a language. I certainly do not use it as an interface, if it is used for IE7 or other I do not know. Would there be any problem in completely uninstalling the program and starting again?

    • in reply to: Install/update problem (3.5 SP1) #1148270

I have tried that, the install completes successfully with the same dialog box on completion
