      Problem solved!
Thanks very much to those of you that took the time to respond.
HansV had a solution that worked for me – using the “paste” dropdown list on the hated ribbon, and then selecting “Paste special” and “Bitmap” from the two choices there. ( the only other choice, HansV, was “device independent bitmap”, which still placed the hated icon in the document)
Thanks for the suggestions also concerning other applications for this purpose – I have used Printkey 2000 in the past, and was ready to go that way again pending a solution to this problem.
      Thanks again for the help.

      Doc –
      Thanks for the fast reply!
Makes no difference, tried holding each “Ctrl” key down in turn and then hitting the “Print Scrn” key, but when I paste into Word 2007, I get that weird character instead of the expected screen image, Weird. And frustrating
      Thanks – Dale

    • burosky / Karen –
Thank you for the replies and suggestions!
The problem was the FQDN – Outlook 2003 requires it, and the dialup was not able to resolve to it, so no connection.
Used HOSTS/LMHOSTS files on the client, and now it can resolve and all appears to be well.
Thanks again for the volunteer spirit!
