Use Jitsi. It is open source and scrupulously reviewed for  security issues. Simple enough that my wife’s prayer group uses it w/out my help.

One of the most interesting posts I’ve seen here. Thanks for sticking with it and providing the answer for all!

So, given that I have PCI-E x1 slots, is it worth bothering to put a usb 3.0 card in? Is it going to be “faster than usb 2.0” that I already have?

Thank you Fascist Nation. Good explanation of the detail that I did not understand. I do, indeed have PCI-E x1 slots.

      November 12, 2015 at 6:36 am in reply to: Love Win8.1…why not Win10? #1536980

I’m a computer geek. I love Win 10 and upgraded as soon as I could.
My wife hates computers, but guess what, she figured out Win 8 with no help from me and was amazingly proficient at navigating on her touch screen laptop, way faster than me. She says Win 10 is the same old unintuitive interface that she hates.

There must be other people out there like her who would prefer to delay the update as long as possible.

This is a huge productivity killer; I have silently complained about this for years. Windows Secrets writers, are you reading this thread? How can we collectively complain to Microsoft about this?

If you have changed your password to a very strong password and this continues to happen then the host is at fault. You are almost certainly on a shared server. Someone has gained access to the entire server. Request that your account be moved to a different server (this will not affect your site) or take you business elsewhere.

April 2, 2015 at 6:34 am in reply to: Changing opening window size for Office 365 applications #1498330

I have Office 2013 on a Win 7 computer. If I start Word, resized the windows and quit Word normally then the next time I open Word Word opens to the size that I manually selected the last time I was in Word. I did not have to do anything special.

      Another such discussion suggested this:
      https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Repair-an-Office-application-7821d4b6-7c1d-4205-aa0e-a6b40c5bb88b?CorrelationId=8c5988ce-36cc-486d-8ed5-2c7e96787764&ui=en-US&rs=en-US&ad=US

Here is an interesting thread that might work around the problem:

This looks interesting. I have not used it and you do have to pay a small fee.

December 18, 2014 at 6:37 am in reply to: Deploy 2013 Access on Mac? #1480696

Just install Parallels and the the version of Windows of your choice.

One of my users is trying to install front end and backend Access 2013 databases on his Mac as well as run the (32-bit) runtime exe file that I provided. When trying to run the exe file he received message “windows application is not supported on an OS X.” Is this a matter of user error or do I need to use Mac-specific databases and/or runtime.exe?

August 28, 2014 at 7:29 am in reply to: Window 8.1 install freezes at 82 percent when i restart #1465390

Thanks Jerry. I did all that. The only problem that I notice now is that every time I click on my Mozilla to get to yahoo, it still takes forever to load Yahoo…sometimes it wont load, sometimes it will but only by refreshing it many times.. Is there any reason this is happening? It didn’t seem to do this before my computer crashed..

Yahoo mail has been intermittently slow. It is not your computer.
