    • in reply to: runonce.exe (98SE) #551634

      Hi Dave

I didn’t have a restart waiting that I was aware of, but did one anyway to check. It didn’t remove runonce.exe from the list. If it’s any help, on the left side of the list on the msconfig startup tab it says mdac_runonce and on the right references the .exe in the windowssystem folder. I like to keep my startup as thin as possible, so I’m wondering if I can uncheck it. I was also wondering what it was doing there.

      Thanks for any help

      Dave

You can also take an intermediate step and first paste into a program like Textsoap (I’m sure there are others, textsoap is not free), process the text there- often one click does it- then copy and paste into word. For me this is more pain free than figuring it out in word”s find and replace 95% of the time.

      Thanks Phil and Gary!

Good thinking, looks like both these solutions will work for me. I figured there’d be a VBA way to do it, if I cant figure out the userform part, I’ll post back. Phil’s idea seems obvious now, but isn’t that always the case with hindsight? I’ll try them both out.

    • in reply to: Special Art Borders (Word 97) #527201

Larry, I scoured the help too looking for a way to add to the pre ordained border art and came up empty, but did find that if you make your own image of the completed page border you can import it to your clip gallery, which may make it easier to find and use in the future.

      Good luck, Dave

      Larry,

I am not an expert, but I believe you will need to open your clip image in an image editing program, construct your border on an 8.5×11 inch “page” (or whatever size you are using), save and close that file, and then import it into word. Maybe someone will be able to help with the *best* way to do this, what is the best image format to use- tiff?, etc.

To bring it into word, I would try Insert l Picture l From File or Insert l Object. Make sure Float Over Text is checked. Fiddle with positioning the border if you need to, then right click l order l send behind text, right click l edit l wrapping l none. You may need to adjust your text with page setup or indents to make it all fit right.

Sorry this is so sketchy, I’ve never tried to do this, and I’ll be interested to see if there is a better way.

Best of luck, doesn’t look easy- Dave

      Hi Phil

I dont know smartboard either, I’ve been using Yankee Clipper (freeware) and happy with it. Monitors the clipboard, select your clip and one click (or key) to paste it to your chosen app (gives you a 3-5 sec delay to activate the other window). Multiple boilerplate collections, easy to use. http://www.yankee-clipper.net/

Thanks for all your help on these boards!

Thanks for your reply Rajesh, I wasn’t clear in my first post that I want to add the paragraph space before, that has disappeared, back in. BAM’s solution (post#23347) is quick and easy if the space in question is indeed 12 points.

By the way, is there any one place to find all these shortcuts? I’m amazed at all the accelerators I’ve never heard of before.

      Thanks, Dave

      W97, Win98SE

This comes up for me a lot, and I thought I was just going crazy. I learned I could fix it manually, but does anyone have a (macro?) solution for this in W97?

      Thanks, Dave

Thanks for your help, it got me to the right place

The key structure was a little different:
Folder l Shell l Browse with Paint Shop Pro

I have regedit+ to save me from my mistakes, so I went for it anyway and all seems well
