What I have done in Winamp is to ensure that all tracks are named with just the song title, then sort by the title and delete any duplicates I find.
I think it would hard for any software to find duplicates when the names and file sizes are different. I’m not sure how it could compare two files except by analyzing the contents but even that would be different when you have different sampling rates.

I’ve been using EZ Desk but that’s showing its age – it was made for Win 95.

The sound card has no external connections except for speakers and a microphone.
I’m waiting for the Behringer to come ( I’ve heard great things about it ) and i will let you know how it’s working.
      Thanks for the replies.

The reason I stopped using Real Player is that its update function messed up my PCs.
I don’t like iTunes for a number of reasons : I have a very large music collection and Winamp has better cataloguing functionality; iTunes used to include QuickTime which updated itself and locked up my PCs; I don’t like the way that iTunes tends to take over file associations.

I agree with Peter Johnson on a number of points. I used Media Monkey until they broke it and now I use Winamp. It handles all my music and videos and I recently started to use the built-in podcast functionality.
I will never allow Real or iTunes anywhere near my PCs; they are both viruses in my opinion ! I use Winamp for loading my iPod.
For video playing, I use GOM or VLC

What I meant was that I store them as FLAC in Winamp but when I drag & drop them through the Winamp interface to my iPod, Winamp converts them to mp3 for storage on the iPod.

Winamp works great with iPods, I’ve been using it for years.
You plug the iPod into a USB port and Winamp recognizes that it’s an iPod. All you need to do is drag & drop files from the Winamp library into the iPod.
I have a mix of FLAC and mp3 files. FLAC files are converted to mp3s when you import them.
I have a Winamp library of 535 GB and it handles all of it without a problem.

I’ve been using WinAmp for my Sansa player and my ipod for years.
It works great for both and even has specific plug-ins for most players.

      Hi,
I’ve used them both and I find the WinZip interface to be a lot easier to configure and to use.
