This is meant for the 2 other people who also me emailed help.
The reason i am looking for another tag holder, (and i’ve found one now by the way – cheers) is because i wasn’t getting any clear answers from my ex-host yk2.net.
Just an add on – i recieved an email which appalled me – they forgot to delete a part of their internal email, which said “i can’t deal with this, get rid of her” !!! I find this unprofessional, and downright insulting. I will be taking the matter further.
SOOOO, anyone – don’t touch them with a barge pole!!! – this post will probably be removed, although it is well intended. cop

Can anyone recommend a good, reasonably priced co. to host my domain?
      I know this isn’t windows related – but i’m desperate….
I’ll explain to whoever replies… nice one.

Hi, im asking you this, cos you seem to have helped me most in the past!!!
Im moving to bradband on Sunday (from dial-up) . The security i use at the moment is AVG (free edition) and zonealarm (free edition) – i find both these easy to use, – as im a novice – and reliable. Do you think they would still be ok on broadband?
Ive tried Norton and i HATE it. Kept blocking myself out of everywhere! DOHH!!
Soooo, do you think zonealarm and AVG is enough protection with broadband?? Thanks – any advice welcome from anyone.
      Dianelane.

    • in reply to: Uninstalling XP (xp pro) #639775

Thanks to everyone who tried to help re: uninstalling XP PRO .
I ended up taking the damm thing back to PC World and they restored it to factory settings – its working fine now.
Merry Xmas all, and thanks again. Diane.

To Wyllywylly. Since i installed pro, my internet connections seem to have gone belly-up! Seems like i’m gonna have to use the floppy. At the time of purchase it worried me because there was no CDROM, but they assured me it was ok, cos that was P. Bells way of doing it. Actully, ill call them today and INSIST on a CDROM.
Someone mentioned (may have been you) that when PC’s come ready installed with windows there may be certain “tweaks” that they have done – if this is the case, then installing PRO would account for the internet cock-up!!!!! Cheers.

The PC was bought brand new from PC World, 4 months ago, and it’s Packard Bell who say that it is void if i change my version of Windows…..BUT that’s not the point! I actually WANT to go back to XP HOME. Hope this answers any questions, and gives you a better idea of what i’m talkin about.
Oh yes, as i said in the mail above this one – there is no “xp home” CDROM, just a floppy, which can restore to factory settings.

    • in reply to: Uninstalling XP (xp pro) #636382

When i bought the PC (from PC World) it wasn’t supplied with a “home” disc – only a “restore to factory settings” floppy – apparrantly they can do this!!! Mad eh?
And if i use the floppy, i’ll lose all my info.

DOH!!! Cheers Dave, i’ll try turning off the firewall!!!! I’ll let you know how i get on.

Thank’s for replying. No we cannat seeeach others computers in Network Neighbourhood.
Actually – i can bring up the name and computer no. of the other one, but when i click on it to see what’s there, it says “my pictures”, “My music “and “shared”. I click on “shared and theres nothing in it. The music and pictures folders are mine. I’ve got XP and he’s got 98. I’m almost sure the problem lies with his computer- as i can’t see anything at all on his.
We used to be able to connect with my old PC. I think there’s still remnants of theton his PC. – am i making sense??? I went through the set-up procedure and had to say that mine was the “host” (?), but we need his as the host, or both “peer to peer”as he’s got the internet connection i’ll be using, (hopefully). HTH. look forward to a response.
By the way, i did what XP told me to do , and make a floppy disc and run it on his. NADA! brickwall
