Presumably the ‘gigabit’ to which you refer relates to the speed of the ethernet connection between a PC (with a 1 Gbit NIC) and an ethernet port on the router? So this is irrelevant for your Wireless G / Wireless N tests.

If I understand you correctly, you wish to determine the data transfer rate between a wireless-card-equipped PC and a folder share on a second wireless-card-equipped PC, transferring data via the wireless router. Testing both before and after the change to the Wireless-N router?

Stuart’s suggestion is the accurate way of determining this, and it will be interesting to see what differences there are between transferring many small files, and one large file…

      Hi BATcher,

There is only one wireless G computer, the notebook, in my house. The other three desktop computers are all Gbit NIC. I want to determine the data transfer rate between Gbit NIC computers connected by ethernet ports, not the wireless transfer speed.

I find it is relatively slow to play the 1080p videos pulled from one Gbit NIC computer to another Gbit NIC computer. The video will delay. I am not sure what the cable is inside the wall of my home network. Maybe it is cat 5 or 5e. I want to do the test to see if it is worth to spend the $90 to upgrade the router.

If the data transfer speed increases two, three or four times after the upgrade and the video still play delayed, it proves it is not the problem of network speed. If the data transfer speed does not increase over 100M after the upgrade, the network cable need to be evaluated.

This looks like a server problem to me, not an IE problem. If you try again with your notebook do you still get the same error?

I solved the problem by myself.

I think this prblem was caused by MSN Space server scripts. Restarting the notbook did not solve the problem. After I went to hotmail home page and signed-in there first, then I visited all the MSN Spaces blog with no problem. But I don’t know why.

    • Mp3tag – the universal Tag Editor (ID3v1, ID3v2, APEv2) will do that for you, as well as lots of other good stuff.

      Hi Alan,

Thank you very much. I found the answer in the forum of Mp3tag.

      Hi Hans,

      scanpst.exe does not help.

After running the scanpst.exe, when I deleted problem folder from Local folder, it would be moved to the Deleted Items folder.

Then I right-clicked on the Deleted Items folder and chose Empty รขโ‚ฌล“Deleted Itemsรขโ‚ฌย folder, Outlook gave me an error message as the screen shot shown on my first post.

If I right-clicked on the problem folder directly and chose to delete this folder, Outlook would give me a different error message as following:

      Hi Doc,

      Thanks for your inputs.

I understand your point. However, if H: had nothing to do Windows installation, why Windows did not allow me to delete the folders? There must be some kind of link between these folders (or files) on H: to the Windows OS operation. It was the reason I did not want to format the H: before getting some expert opinions from this forum.

    • in reply to: Unable to delete folders (Windows XP Home SP3) #1148336

      Hi Al,

Since I scan the disks regularly, there is no need to use full format. I chose to use quick format on this procedure.

Yes, all the folders are gone and the drive H: is as clean as a new born baby.

    • in reply to: Unable to delete folders (Windows XP Home SP3) #1148327

      Hi Al,

It takes only two second to format the H:. System runs stable after the format.

I really want to thank you for your effort in helping me. This two-second procedure spends you a lot of time.

      Hi Al,

Sorry. I made a mistake on the CMD window. Here is my SET command result. I don’t see anything related to H:, do you?

    • in reply to: Unable to delete folders (Windows XP Home SP3) #1148322

      HI Al,

What is ” SET command with no parameters”? The following is screen shot of the set command I entered. Windows gave me an error message.

      Hi Al,

      Thank s for your reply.

Here is the screen shot of Disk Management. Disk 0 is a SATA drive. Disk 1 is an IDE drive.

If you do not have other suggestions, I will follow your instruction to format H:. However, to prevent disaster from happening, I will Ghost C: and H: before formatting.

    • in reply to: How to operate SWF files? #1143292

      Hi jscher2000,

If I choose the second option you gave me and upload the SWF file to a host server. Letรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs assume the direct link to this file is:
      http://storage.com/test.swf

Since I donรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt know how to follow your instruction to change the codes, can you rewrite me the html codes as an example?

      Thanks,

    • in reply to: How to operate SWF files? #1143270

      Hi jscher2000,

      Thank you for your reply.

I have difficulty uploading either file to vimeo. Vimeo does not accept SWF file format.

    • in reply to: Multiple Skype Accounts on one PC #1142942

      Hi herworth,

Thank you for your reply. I do have another Windows User accounts for the XP login.

I tried to find the answer on Skypeรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs forum. I saw people posting the similar question. Fortunately, by ignoring this procedure, I have set up multiple Skype accounts on one PC by the help from another Skype user.

It has something to do with the shortcut created by the installation of Skype. I can not verify my conclusion till next Skype upgrade.

    • in reply to: Excel Time Clock Macro (Office XP SP3) #1136450

      Hi Steve,

I have tried to use the codes on Mr Excel forum, but I have bumped into three problems:

First, this Close Workbook After a Period of Inactivity sub will display a MsgBox. I donรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt want this MsgBox showing up.

Second, this sub will not run automatically when the workbook is open. I tried to use the Auto sub and it did not help. This is a password-protected workbook and is not open รขโ‚ฌหœtil the password is entered.

Third, I donรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt know where to insert the Sleep command provided by Don Well into Mr. Excelรขโ‚ฌโ„ขs codes.
