      Local file
No links to other workbooks or files
About 20 worksheets with simple formula (+,-,*,/)
Scanned with NAV, no virus found.
No NAV installed in the system

This file was about 2-3MB in Excel97. It blows itself to 11M under Excel2002.

Andrew, thank you very much, very very much.

    • in reply to: How to create an email address field? (2002) #588577

Thanks for the codes. Two questions on the codes:

      1. How to prevent the Choose Profile Windows from popping up when this VBA is executed? I have already set the selected profile as the default profile in the Choose Profile window. Unfortunately, it still pops up.

      2. Your codes set the Report as the default value in the Subject area. How to set no value in the Subject area and the cursor stay in the Subject area when email client is launched?

Since just previewing of message will infect the system, it is not a good idea even just to “look” at any suspicious mail. It is strongly suggest to move all the mails to a webmail server. Check all the mails there first before downloading them into local machine.

    • in reply to: Sending Email as a specific time (Outlook Express 6) #584629

In Outlook 2002, when a new email is created, there is an OPTIONs button, on the Tool Bar, allowing you to set the time when message is delivered.

    • in reply to: Spelling Check shareware for OE (6.0) #584628

Thanks for the suggestion. I do have a copy of Office suite on my PC. However, my wife and my child want to write email with spelling function on their machines. I don’t want to spend that much money to buy MS Word or Office just for this purpose.

    • in reply to: Detecting Primary Slave Hard Disk (XP) #583584

My conclusion is this 2.1GB JTS IDE disk is too old for the XP. Though it was detected by the Adding Device Wizard, XP still could not detect this device on restarting. So, I put in another big, relatively bigger, 4.3 Seagate disk as the slave drive for testing. XP had no problem in detecting this newer, relatively newer, hard disk.

    • in reply to: Detecting Primary Slave Hard Disk (XP) #583581

      SparkyPatric,

Thanks for your clue. XP found the Slave HD after I ran the Add Hardware Wizard. Hmm…, it seems that XP does not detect new device automatically.

    • in reply to: Detecting Primary Slave Hard Disk (XP) #583580

No. The Device Manager shows only one disk driver, the 40GB Primary.

    • in reply to: Adding WinXP into LAN #583470

      DaveA,

For some hardware issues, I formatted the HD and installed WinXP from the scratch. I don’t know why this time WinXP did not ask me to create a disk for other machines on the network when using the Network wizard. Everything went through. Now I can see every machines from every machines on the LAN.

      Thanks,

    • in reply to: Reinstall Outlook2002 (XP) #583465

      DaveA,

I could not remember what I was reading before. Anyway, for some hardware issues, I have reinstalled the WinXP and OfficeXP from the scratch on this new PC. I have not launched the outlook2002 on the new PC yet. Would you please verify if my procedures are correct:

      1) Launch the Outlook2002 and create one email account (I have 7 email accounts on old .PST)
      2) Close the Outlook2002
      3) Use Windows Explorer to locate the newly created .PST and replace it with the old PST
      4) Launch Outlook2002. I will see everything in the old PST with 7 emails account setting

    • in reply to: Two database files from Microsoft (2002) #581366

In the templates of Access2002, I could find only the Contact Management, not the Address Book.

I just used the Access Help to search the Address Book application. Access stated the following:

Additional sample databases included with Access

This feature is available in the Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Korean language versions of Microsoft Office.

    • in reply to: Is There a Network Hard drive? #581135

To put an old pc on the LAN as a storage has the following two drawbacks:
      1) I need to keep the monitor, mouse and keyboard connected. It is very space and energy inefficient.
      2) I need to keep an copy of Operation System on this old PC, because Mr. Gates does not allow me to use one copy of Windows on two PCs. It is about another $100.

Currently, I am using the slave drive on one of the PC on the LAN as the storage. The drawback is I need to keep this PC power on all the time.

In considering the above, If I can find a networkable hard drive under $200, may be it will be the better solution in my situation.

    • in reply to: Looking for an address book (2002) #581101

Sorry, I did not explain it well on the last post.

Since Outlook2002 could not accomplish what I need, I was looking for if there is a shareware, written with Access, that can meet my requirement.

    • in reply to: Looking for an address book (2002) #581100

It is a little bit inconvenient to use the “by category” method. I still need to enter all the name and address when creating new contacts in the same company.
