AskWoody LoungerSounds suspicious in that the problem appeared after installing Access. Do you have to reboot when the error occurs?
In your initial post, you indicated that you “removed” Access. Do you mean uninstalled via Control Panel and not just deleted? If you deleted, there may be some remnants of the program that are causing the error message.
A Google search of the message (and variants of it) came up with nothing. You might, therefore, consider uninstalling Access, then seeing if the error message reappears. If so, you know what the problem is. If not, then you can reinstall the program. Also, run ScanDisk and Defrag. System Restore still remains a option.

AskWoody LoungerPerhaps try System Restore to a point prior to two days ago.

AskWoody LoungerA Google search shows a discussion of this error message as it relates to Windows ME at http://www.jerrypournelle.com/archives2/ar…ew/view124.html%5B/url%5D . Otherwise, as you indicate, nothing much else seems to be addressing the problem.

AskWoody LoungerYou might also want to explore Iomega’s FAQ’s and support knowledgebase at http://www.iomega.com/support/%5B/url%5D. I may be wrong, but I doubt that Dell will help you on an Iomega problem.

AskWoody LoungerPerhaps do a System Restore if he has a restore point prior to the grandkids using the computer.

AskWoody LoungerHave you run Scandisk? One other quick suggestion (although I haven’t used 5.5 for a while and can’t remember if this feature is in it): try to repair IE–go to add/remove programs in the Control Panel, click on IE and add/remove, and you should be given the option to repair it. You might also consider upgrading to IE6.

AskWoody LoungerThis link to Microsoft relates to Word 2002. There may be some differences with 2000, but it may be worth checking out. It also provides links to templates. Also, if you check Google under “making business cards,” you’ll find an extensive number of links. Sorry I can’t be more specific, but this might be a starting point: http://office.microsoft.com/assistance/200…inessCards.aspx%5B/url%5D

AskWoody LoungerCan’t delete “mail” from the address. It’s added automatically to our return address by our mail server, and automatic unsubscription servers respond to the “mail.universityname.edu” address. I presume “mail” is added to direct it to the mail server and separate it from the web site server.

AskWoody LoungerSorry, I should have read your post more carefully. However, you might try this link. It has some registry tweaks to disable System Restore:

AskWoody LoungerAn immediate solution, if I remember my old 932 correctly, is to push the left-most button on the top-right side of the printer. This should stop the print job on the page being printed. You might also want to reinstall the driver for the printer. Check HP for the most recent release.

AskWoody LoungerBig Al,
FYI, the last version of McAfee I used was 6.0. I agree, it is an effective antivirus program, as I noted initially. But why should there have to be a work around after all these years of slowdown problems? As you said, “I don’t know why the problem hasn’t been officially fixed.” They may be responsive in most respects, but why not on this pervasive, ongoing problem? Also, as you indicated, you’ve never had a “machine corrupted by a virus, worm or trojan” during the time you’ve used McAfee. Nor have I during the time I’ve used Norton.
