Is this a personal or work version of Office?

      Joe

      Personal, DVD with key etc.

    • in reply to: WORD won’t save #1471504

      Cleanup and reinstall didn’t help.

Is the save location a local folder or a network folder?

Have you double checked the security settings on the save location to ensure that your account has the correct privileges?

      Joe

Didn’t remember that, thanks for the reminder. I did check them for permissions and security.

I’m doing a complete uninstall and reinstall, including AppData folders. I’ll see if that helps and keep you informed.

      Joe,
With only a “Save” your concerns are appropriate and yes I’ve checked. BUT when I do a “Save as” nothing happens, no menu of where to save, file type or file name never appears.

If the location in which you wish to save the document already has many (and I’m not sure what number is many) documents the dialog box may take a long time to enumerate all the current documents. Are you sure you have waited long enough?

      Joe

Waited for ~5min, nothing. File location has no WORD files and only 1 RTF. Disk has lots of space.

      Deeppow,

Check the save locations under File -> Options. Make sure you have access to the locations. Also check your security settings in Trust Center. HTH

They look OK. I’ve done an uninstall and reinstall — no joy.

Yes, still get an error but the “5 user registry handles leaked” info disappears. Get the following error:

Thanks Joe, there are ~12 WHS services. I picked the one that seemed appropriate and it seeks to have worked today.

    • in reply to: Problem stumping me and manufacturer #1358790

CLiNT, OS reinstall was after a reformat and then clean install.

After spending some time in telecon with the manufacturer, the guess is either a motherboard or CPU problem. (CPU based on potential problem with the graphics switching technology the CPU has.) Going to RMA it for second time. We’ll see what happens.

Thanks to all for your time and thoughts.

      Thanks BigMac but No Joy.

      F.U.N.,
Good suggestions. Our thinking was similar and following that line they’ve replaced the keyboard with a new one and I can use either a USB mouse (Logitech) or the touchpad, same problems exist.

    • in reply to: Problem stumping me and manufacturer #1358728

      CLiNT,
Yes, TRIM is on. I’ve reinstalled the OS once before but I’ll do it again. After that it has to be some hardware problem and I’m sending back to the manufacturer.

Thank you very much for the thoughts & suggestions.

      ruirib,

Renaming folder is just one case of many different activities. At this moment, I can’t even login into the machine using my normal account since the password menu disappears part way through my typing. I just made the Administrator visible without a password so I can enter that way.

    • in reply to: Problem stumping me and manufacturer #1358689

The folder was on an empty partition except for the folder.
