Like Big Al, I too had the same exceptional response from Amazon. A book I had ordered showed that it was delivered on the tracking website but it was no where to be found. To my amazement, Amazon didn’t present me with various reasons the book could have gone missing i.e. stolen, misdelivered etc., but said a replacement book would be sent out immediately and I would have it in three days(!). As it turns out, my husband heard me on the phone with Amazon and was waving his hands around to get my attention (which I didn’t do as everyone knows that females can’t listen to two conversations at once!) and as I hung up, told me he found the book on the porch the day before and had put it away for our upcoming vacation per my instruction…I truly don’t recall making that statement but apparently I did:) I called Amazon back with my apologies and stopped the second book from being delivered.

My amazement comes from the fact that in this day of finger-pointing and lack-lustre customer service, this incident has stood out in my head as a shining example of exceptional company performance that other business’s should look to as the golden standard. Kudos to them.

You can create a personal profile for each user. That would be safer than letting any family member access your bank account. More info: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+profiles

Excellent advice! I will definitely look into that. And for the record, I upgraded FF to 3.5 and found the add on “Cookie Culler”….works like a charm.

      Thanks so much to all.

Is there any good reason that you delete cookies? You’ve seen the downside of deleting them.

      Joe

Thanks All. I will update my copy of FF and look at the Cookie Culler add-on. Joe, I guess I’m just in the habit of “decluttering” my harddrive by deleting history, cookies, temp files etc. every so often. I also have a feeling that some family members (~ahem~) don’t want mum to see where they have surfed so I find that my history and cookies are being deleted far more often than I probably would do it:)

    • in reply to: Outlook 2007 meeting invitation changes #1169317

We’re both running Windows XP. But I found out what the difference is…I was trying to make a change in the Location field.

For some reason, Outlook 07 doesn’t allow a change in that field without notifying all recipients. If I make a change in the notes section or the subject field of the meeting, I can just hit the save button and all is well. If I want to change something in the location field, that’s when the options are limited.

And in case anyone reading this wonders why I wouldn’t want all attendees notified of a location change, in many instances, a meeting starts out as an in-person meeting but at the last minute my director can’t appear in person and wants to call in via a teleconference number. So in her location field, I will take out the meeting room information and add the call-in details that she requires. However, now I am putting the call-in details in the subject field so she can see that when see is looking at her calendar (the notes section doesn’t come up when a reminder pops up so this is the only visual cue).

Thanks for that Hans. It looks like I’ll have to do that.

Interestingly enough, I was just conferring with a colleague about this and when he tested this on his system, Outlook offered him THREE choices (one of which is save and don’t send) where I only get two choices….guess I got the cheap version!

    • in reply to: Firefox Back Button #1160475

Well, you’re a bit behind in versions, butI don’t think much has changed. The back button should reveal quite a number of previous pages. If yours doesn’t let us know.

Thank you….sometimes I just need someone to point out the obvious. I was more intent on looking for a dropdown arrow beside the Back button that I truly didn’t see the tiny black dot beside the Forward button. Thanks for pointing that out Big Al. Other than having my glasses adjusted to see it, all is well:)

    • in reply to: Concatenate a range of cells #1159578

Thank you, thank you!! All is well. This is the biggest time-saver I’ve had in a long time – many thanks again Mike and Jan Karel.

    • in reply to: Concatenate a range of cells #1159529

Thanks to all for contributing – this truly is valuable.

I’ve managed to have Jan Karel’s code work (and it’s brilliant!!) when I’m concatenating a row but not a column as Mike has noted. The cells I’m joining are in fact in a column.

Again, as I’m not well-versed in code, I’m unclear how to use the pieces of code provided. If I use Mike’s (and the MyJoin formula from Jan Karel) I get the #NAME error again concatenating a column. I’m missing something here – what am I doing wrong?

    • in reply to: Concatenate a range of cells #1159462

Thank you very much for that. I pasted your code in a module as instructed but I’m getting a #NAME? error in the cell that I’m entering the =MyJoin formula in. As I’m not “fluent” in code, is there something in there that disallows text? That is what I’m attempting to join together.

That’s an option in Word, not in Excel!

Ah Ha! I do this particular chore once a year and my memory retention apparently doesn’t stretch that long:) Thanks so much Hans.

Thank you Hans and Franciz. I delayed in posting back as I was trying to get the original formula to work (I didn’t see Franciz’ post until just now!). The benefit of the tiny error in the original formula is that it forced me to do a bit reading about this formula which led to a better understanding of how it works!

All is well and thank you both for the instruction!

    • in reply to: Title Bar & Tabs not showing (2003) #1136956

She has checked this option and assures me it is ticked. This strange behaviour just started today. She has exited the program and gone back in to see if something would fix itself but no luck. She explains to me that when she maximizes the window, it’s as if the window becomes too big for her screen and cuts off the top and bottom….at the top, the first thing she sees is her toolbars. I’m thinking of the normal.dot in WORD when I say this, but does personal.xls in Excel ever become corrupt? I don’t know if that could possibly have anything to do with this behaviour or not. I’ll be seeing this person tomorrow so possibly when I see this for myself, something else may be apparent.

Wow…that was a fast fix from that page! Thanks Hans…all is well !!

Ah! Good suggestion Hans. I’ll do that instead. Thank you.

Wonderful! I learn so much from this forum…now if I could only remember everything I learn smile

      Thanks Steve and Rudi
