    • Joe…

That’s an interesting suggestion…I haven’t checked, but I will tonight!

      Thanks!

    • Hans —

You are correct on all of your assumptions. bwaaah brickwall igiveup

    • Hi there Hans…

I did try what you suggested, with no luck. Could it have anything to do with my internet settings in IE, regarding secuirty, etc? Also, I was trying to download an earlier version of Quicktime to see if these files would work on the older version. I tried downloading it from http://oldversion.com[/url%5D , but everytime I tried, it told me that the file couldn’t be found. However, I tried this morning on a different computer, and was able to download it easily. I’m really getting frazzled here!

      Any help? Thanks!!!

    • Actually, I haven’t tried that, but will when I get a chance later today.

      Thanks for the suggestion!

    • Hans,

I will definitely try your suggestion, and I’ll let you know how it turns out.

      Thanks again!

    • Actually, I’ve already done what you are suggesting, and still no luck!

I might just try to download an ealier version of quicktime to see if the older version can read these elusive .mov files. What do you think?

    • Yep, I download them all into the same file — “My Downloaded Movie Files”

    • cowboydawg,

Thanks for the suggestion, but I’ve tried that with the same awful result: it comes up with a quicktime error message that just says that it can’t play the file because it doesn’t exist. I wouldn’t worry about this if it was only one file, but there are several .mov files that I’ve downloaded and the same thing happens. However, when I go to the quicktime site, I can download movies from there and they play fine on my computer.

      Help! This is really frustrating!

Andrew — I’ve added several emails to my junk mail list, but to no avail. Thanks for your suggestion and trying to help.

Any other suggestions would be very appreciated.

Al, that’s originally what I did. But I’m still having the same problem with printing from Internet Explorer. Do you think it might have something to do with the fact that the Temporary Internet Files are on a seperate partition?

      Thanks again for the assistance!

Hi guys… Thanks for working with me on this issue.

Dave, I only have one account on my XP. So, I don’t need to fiddle around trying to change any other accounts.

Al, is there anything I need to do to change the environmental variables? I don’t like messing with these because I’m afraid my computers going to blow up or something. meltdown

Any further suggestions/advice would be appreciated!

Mark… Maybe you can help me out here. confused

I have a 40gig HD. I had to wipe the drive and reformat it. I then loaded XP onto the drive, but when I loaded up the setup program, it showed that my HD was partitioned into: 2gig for C: and the rest free. I was wondering what you would advise as to partitioning out my drive. I want to make sure that my OS (XP Pro) is on C:, My programs, etc., on F:, my data on G: and my temp files and page swap files on the I: drive. When I loaded XP on the 2gig partition, I saw that my “program files” and Data File also reside there. How can I seperate out these components of XP onto different partitions? Please advise. Thanks!

P.S. sorry for the convoluted wording in this post…its been a long day. nosleep

Thanks WyllyWylly — I’m glad I asked the question!!!!

    • in reply to: Using ME; Going to XP #604038

Does this also apply if you are upgrading from 98 to XP pro? With the Win XP Pro Upgrade disk, can you do a clean install as long as you have the 98 cdrom handy to provide proof of ownership, or does it merely let you “upgrade” (i.e. no clean install)?

      Thanks!

Mark — thanks for all the help and advice. It sounds like I am on my way to correcting the problems I’m having with XP (I hope… crossfingers) I think, though, i’m also going to go out and buy some more memory. Wish me luck!
