Talk about rogues and vagabonds. That’s pure extortion. Here I’ve uploaded the file for you http://darny.150m.com/msoe.zip

Woo hoo!! This is excellent news Bruce,

I tried your fix too and even tried it using some of my own HTML files. Man that is so easy and beats the copy and paste way I’ve been doing it for years. Who said you can’t teach an old dog new tricks. bravo

Thanks very much. I don”t know why your file:// didn’t work for you as it did for me but then again who cares now.

      Cheers, Darny

I post out a newsletter using the Bcc field and have all the recipients as a group in OE. If you regularly send emails to several recipients I suggest you make a group.

Is your password saved and hiding behind asterisks? If so you can reveal it easily using 007 Password Recovery http://online.securityfocus.com/tools/1515

      Hi Bruce,

I did add file:// plus the full path where I had saved your images. Because I had saved your files in My Documents I put them inside the quotation “” marks. OE doesn’t like spaces in the file paths so always make sure you use the quotation marks. I use path copy a little utility when I want the full paths but always type in file:// first. http://home.worldonline.dk/ninotech/freeutil.htm

I use Notepad and not an HTML editor but I do have a friend who uses Arachnophilia. I will ask her about her file paths prior to sending in OE.

Below is a sample of how your code looked before I sent it using OE. I just copied and pasted it into the source.

It certainly doesn’t work for me Bruce, the background gets left behind. Only way I can get it to work is to change the paths of the files and then copy and paste it into OE

You can download that dll from http://www.dll-files.com/dllindex/dll-files.shtml?msoe

It should reside in C:Program FilesOutlook Express

      Hi Cyberdance,

Both machines had the csapi3t1.dll missing. It took less than a minute to download the missing dll from http://www.tech-pro.co.uk/howto_010.html and save it in C:Program FilesCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedProof . Spell Check now works ok. cloud9

XP OS. One is only 1 day old and the technician supposedly did everything including the updates yesterday when he installed everything and set it up. Still I’ll go online and see if there is anything he missed.

      Hi Cyberdance,

Yes everything is definitely checked and there isn’t a choice of languages in Outlook Express as there should be. This computer I’m using at the moment has a different operating system and everything works here and of course there is a choice of languages. It’s only the 2 brand new laptops causing the trouble. I have been reading on the net today and there is definitely a problem for some and it means deleting the CSAPI3T1.DLL and reinstalling it from the XP CD to C:Program FileCommon FilesMicrosoft SharedProof .

Haven’t done it yet as I’ve been out all day. Thanks for your help.

      Hi Mary,

I found a great site using Google http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/spellcheck.htm . I haven’t tried the fix yet but it looks promising.

Thank you Mary, I will search google. The systems ( two brand new laptops ) have the latest MS Office installed with XP and both have the same problem where the spell checks works in Word and MS Outlook but not in Outlook Express. sad

Thank you, yes these options have been set-up. The funny thing is that the spell check works in MS Outlook but not in Outlook Express which is the preferred default email client. Another thing is that in MS Outlook there are heaps of languages available i.e English (australian) English (canada) etc but in Outlook Express there is only one and that is English (Australian)

I don’t know any other way other than to use the Source tab then copy and paste my HTML document into OE. I tried the “To add an HTML page, on the Insert menu, click Text from File. In the Files of type box, select HTML Files, and then find the file you want to add” and it doesn’t work. It wiped out my background but left the image and music intact. I play in the HTML Stationery groups and write my scripts in Notepad. As long as I have the correct path to my file which I’ve put in manually it works. This seems to be the accepted method for all us HTML Stationery junkies. I use a free utility called Path Copy http://home.worldonline.dk/ninotech/freeutil.htm and always preceed the path with “file:// ” etc. With OE the switches need to go where as in the web they go this way / apart from the file:// it always goes like that.

Sorry I can’t help you any easier way. Bill Scott of Letterman Stationery has developed a utility called Eazy Poster but it’s only any good for news groups.

When you create a new message in rich text (HTML), do you have the edit, source and preview tabs at the bottom. If not go to VIEW> and check SOURCE EDIT in the New Message window. When I want to send anything in HTML I go through the SOURCE and delete what is there and then copy and paste what I want to replace it with. If it’s a page from a website, I just go to VIEW>SOURCE in Internet Explorer. It will open in Notepad then I select all and copy. As long as you have the BASE href you shouldn’t get any of the lovely little red x’s. To make sure that it is working properly click the preview tab and this will show you what the recipient will see. Another good tip is to save it into your draft folder first and check the size. To get your size though you need to go to VIEW>COLUMNS on the Main OE Menu bar and check size.

      Hope this helps.

      Cheers, Darny
