Thank you, Leif and Stuart, for your answers. Based on them, I believe I should have asked this question of the Word97 board. So, here goes.

      Appreciate your responeses.

      Hi, Charlotte –

Thanks for your response. I apparently have a tempermental keyboard when in the VB ed. Sometimes Insert works as it should; often, in same macro window, I have to hit Insert to get it out of its self-imposed Overtype mode. This doesn

In Word 97 you can indicate Exceptions: Tools/AutoCorrect, Exceptions. Does XP have this? Good luck.

Thank you both so much for your posts.

I had done, and re-did, the creation/naming of the macro. I still cannot get any hovering (to show my hotkey assignment). The hotkey shows along w/the name — (takes up too much room on toolbar).

I’m too much of a novice to try the macro…

Perhaps if I re-read the posts, something will ‘click.’

Thank you both for your help.

When I have this problem (Word97), I find either trying to place the button on a different toolbar or placing it almost atop an existing button works. When you drop the button, it will go into its own place.

      Good luck.

      Morning –

(Chris, I’m with you. Why play a game if you’re not an active participant….)

If anyone out there is interested in playing Freecell but couldn’t get beyond the Hourglass, here is the result of my serendipitous “research”:

I went to the ZD site to look up Tray Manager and while there, began reading some of the reviews. Lo & Behold, many writers said they couldn’t play FreeCell with [new version of] TrayManager running.

Disable it and all is fine in gameland.

      That was the fix.

Now, all get back to work.

Thanks much for your reply, Chris.

I went to the suggested site –however, I do not get any error message when opening/running FreeCell. (Am running it on Win98 2nd edition.) Only thing that happens is the Hourglass on the playing field….

      Do appreciate your prompt post.

    • in reply to: Printer Hook-up problems #558607

Afternoon, Leif. Thanks for your quick response.

      I’m using LPT1.
The make/model of printer is IBM (laser), 4019

      Yes, the driver is correct.
The printer icon flashes so quickly that it’s physically impossible to open it.

What’s frustrating is that all SEEMS to be well, except nothing goes to the buffer. Does this indicate a software/hardware problem, or is it impossible to tell?

      Again, my thanks!

Perhaps this will work for you (does for me w/Word 97)

If you have Tweak, go to Paranoia Tab and uncheck Clear Document history at logon.
      Good luck
