Thanks, but when I do that, the numbers are enclosed in a box!

I clicked ‘custom’ and then the top border & Grid and top border: got enclosed figures both times.

Any other way around this, do you think?

      Morning, Dave –

According to the Sys Info/Update Driver “best driver Window found is already installed.”

      Thanks for the tip, tho.

Thank you for your promptness. I have to run between two computers, so sorry I was a tad tardy to reply to you.
I have 3 inf files with the download: PCI1009, PCI1009 (yes, two are the same), WACWAVE.

Naive question: if these are the needed ones, how do I proceed? Do I just go to Add New Hardware and follow whatever instructions appear?

      Thank you, Dave.

      Hi, you patient people —

Haven’t been able to respond until now re what I have running. Here is the list, from Sys Information:
Running Tasks + Startup. Hope this isn’t overload for you!

Some are self-evident, but LoadPower; MSG…Run, hpsched…are unknown to me.

My inclination is to disable Office, but there seems to be some conflicting ideas about that. There are a few disagreements between Pacs-Portal and other sites, thus [part of my confusion].

Is it true that a “100% load” is bad in reference to memory?
      Thank you all, as always,

    • in reply to: MSCONFIG-clean up after #1800010

      Hi, Guys –

Reason I want to clean up/out the Msconfig is that under AOL System Information memory tab, it indicates “100% load” and they (AOL) said this was not good, that the load should be reduced to somewhere in the 70s. This would eliminate error messages I am getting (many concerning VxD), they said…

I know, I know, AOL is baby steps, but that’s what we have at the moment….

So, I am wondering if such items as Office Startup, Taskmgr, etc. can be removed.

      Hope this clarifies. Thanks much,
      Curious

      Evening –

(And bravos to the new MVPs!!!)

I want to delete some programs in MSCONFIG. I came across Paul Collins’ site and recommendations and Task List Programs at http://www.answersthatwork.com/Tasklist_pages/tasklist_l.htm%5B/url%5D

If you know these sites, would you recommend I follow their suggestions –with no blame if something goes wrong?

      Any hints would be welcomed.

      Thank you all.

Thank you, Phil, for your suggestion of dis-abling/re-enabling & the reboots. NO soap. And, there doesn’t seem to be anything in msconfig that should interfer.

Guess I’ll have to use a third-party app.

      Your input is appreciated.

      Morning, Al –

I do know where the checkbox is, and I have it enabled. That’s the frustration. I guess it is as you suspect, AOL has taken over that settting.

Thank you again for your diligence.

(Edited by Leif on 11-Jan-03 11:52. to replace Word.doc attachment with graphic attachment.)

      Al –

Yes, I am connected, via AOL. As I mentioned in an earlier post, even though I have enabled Display Modem Status under Options, the status is not displayed.

I appreciate your help, and your asking other Loungers for help, but I don’t want to take up much more of your time.

      Thank you.

      Hi –

Yup, I just sorta guessed you weren’t the No. 1 fan of AOL. Yes, I did contact them before the Lounge and, yes, they did refer me to Rockwell. And yes, I am awaiting word from them but —- the computer is 2+ years old so I’d be surprised if I got a meaningful answer.

      Encore, Merci to you all.

Thanks, Big Al, for your Prompt response.

I guess Window98SE is different from Win98 ’cause I can’t find your option as in the attachment on the Win98. My navigation:
My Computer/Dial Up Networking; clicking Make a New Connection, which yields Welcome to Dial-Up Netowrking.

As I said, I am not on a network, but I was hoping this might enable the status indicator, if I knew how to answer the questions asked in the dialaog.

(I have a Rockwell HCF 56k Speakerphone PCI Mode)

      Thanks again,

      Morning, Klaus –

Thanks for the answer. Since I’m an urban dweller, unfamiliar w/nature and parks, and event handlers, I

      Hi, Andrew O –

Thank you, too, for your macro. Between your response and Jefferson, I’m in good shape. Thinking of making your suggested macro a button for fast access.

      Appreciate your help.
