      Apology accepted!

Trust me – I know those users well, who never do a single thing to cause the problems on their PCs, and expect me to jump in and fix the problem. I work a Help Desk. ‘Nuff said.

OK, let me address this post in several ways.

First, my intention in posting this here was not to say “shame on you, Woody” but rather to ask if I was missing something. Perhaps I wasn’t perfectly clear about that, and I apologize if my post sounded accusatory.

Second, I didn’t open an e-mail with an attachment – hence my puzzlement. The e-mail didn’t appear to have an attachment, which obviously confused me. I don’t need McAfee to “pay attention” for me, as I am quite capable of paying attention on my own. I DID send the message to the appropriate place for further action. I decided to post here in order to search for a little clarity.

Again, I did not intend to associate Woody’s name with a virus or suggest that he intentionally sent it to anyone.

      MaryAnn –

We, too, use Groupwise 6. The default seems to ALWAYS be Novell LDAP Address Book, and I haven’t found a way to change it. We just click the dropdown and manually switch it every time.

Regarding modifying the column order – we have macro code that brings up a form wherein we modify the address layout. I’m afraid I can’t share that with you for legal reasons (the code was actually created for us by an outside consultant, so we don’t “own” it). But, you may want to look into doing this or having it done for you.

      HTH,
      Candi

    • in reply to: webband.dll error (IE6(Fully patched)) #743770

OK….figured it out. webband.dll is a program file associated with Whistle Software. Found it by pure luck, as a search did not produce this file. Perhaps I wasn’t searching enough places. Oh well… problem solved by uninstalling Whistle Software (a weather alert service).

    • in reply to: Footnotes (Word 2002) #722622

Perhaps the “footnotes” with no boxes were manually typed and formatted to be superscript, rather than actually being inserted as a footnote using Word’s footnote tool?

    • in reply to: highlighting (Word 2000) #720023

This is somewhat of a workaround and may not work for you depending on your situation. Instead of highlighting, you can apply shading to the empty space. Select the empty space, click Format, Borders and Shading, and apply whatever color you want.

    • in reply to: Page Numbering (2000) #719961

Insert a section break on page 2. In page 3 footer: click the page setup button on the header/footer toolbar. Set page 3 to have a different first page. Click OK to close the page setup dialog box. Then, click the format page number button and set it to start at 1. Click OK. Finally, insert your page number.

Forgot to add that Windows 98 functions as it should with no problems. Thank goodness we still have a few 98 boxes left!

    • in reply to: Disabling Home Page change (IE6/Windows XP) #702332

Ah, I misunderstood! So, we create the key, put it in login script, and to change it the user would have to reset the DWORD value every day… sounds good to me! Although I wonder how many Help Desk calls I’ll get when we do this… headthrob
