    • I found the answer. Apparently the shadow effect was applied to the PPT font along with a gradient background. Not a good combination that works well as an Outlook embedded object.

      Rory, thanks so much!

      Caroline,

Windows already does that just look at the file in Explorer. Do you want to include it in the file name for some reason?

Thanks RG, yes I want that information in my spreadsheet. I actually wanted to put it in the footer but a cell at the top of the worksheet will suffice.

      Tim:

Your formulas worked perfectly. Thank you so much!

Thank you Tim for your response. So, the formula gets more complicated if My Code doesn’t equal L110. I actually have several My Codes and Client Codes. My Code may be L110, L120, L130…L250 and there are ranges for each Client Code that should match with the corresponding My Code.

      For example:

      My Code……….Client Code Range
      L110…………….Z004-Z009
      L120…………….Z010-Z012
      L130…………….Z013-Z015

What I’m trying to accomplish is some way to draw my attention to My Code so that if the Client Code is outside the range, I can see that there’s an error and correct it.

      I hope this makes sense.

      Thank you again.

I am under the impression that you don’t need to have Add-ins in order to have custom ribbons. Custom ribbons are normally just XML files. Are these ones that were developed in-house, or are they commercial products that you purchased?

These were developed by a third-party vendor for my company.

      Caroline,

Thank you — very much — for buying a copy of my book! I hope it proves useful to you.

Feel free to drop me a note at the e-mail address listed at the end of the Introduction if you have any questions or comments. I’ll do my best to help.

      Best,
      Jan

Jan, I look forward to reading your book and contacting you. I didn’t mention it, but I too am a software trainer and used to do word processing (I actually miss it).

      Jack:

I couldn’t agree with you more! The first Word book I read, back in 98ish, was by Woody et al. I learned so much that I went out and bought an Excel book too. It was Woody’s book that finally convinced me to stop fighting Word and work with it (I was a WordPerfect user). It was great! I have never found another book that was as interesting or exciting (if you can call a computer book exciting). I have read many good MS books since but nothing like that.

However, since I also work in the legal industry I just ordered Jan’s book. I looks like it may be just what I’ve been looking for for several months. I might add that if I had not read this post I may never have known about it. Jan, thanks for discretely plugging your book.

The attached example should solve your dilemma. Note that there may be more than one person with the most. Also note that in rows 2:6, columns E:G have the same formulae; Row 1 is unique.

Thank you for your help! I’ll give a try.

Hans: Thank you for your analysis. Due to the 100k size limitation, I had to delete a number of tables (those I thought weren’t relevant); however, since you didn’t crash, perhaps one of the deleted tables is causing the problem.

I will verify/make your suggested changes and see if I continue to have problems. I will let you know.

      Again, thank you!

Hans: Sorry for the delayed response – I was watching my email for a reply but didn’t see this. Here is the Db as instructed.

Thank you so much for your help.

    • in reply to: Access Still Shutting Down (2K – SP3) #1106564

I have only been working in this Db since last week. Prior I worked on a couple of other Dbs for a couple of weeks. The problem started yesterday while working in this Db and has been persistent ever since.

I am working on a laptop and the Db is on my local drive.

Thank you so much Hans! All of your suggestions worked! My class registration form works like a charm and Access quit shutting down!

      Woohoo!

      Hans:

Will making these changes to the subdatasheet and options help with the issue I am having with Access shutting down?

    • in reply to: Class Entry Form (2K – SP3) #1106525

Thank you Hans, I will try your recommendations. How do I “- Set the Subdatasheet Name property of all tables to [None].” as noted in your linked post?
