Hans – as usual, that works great. Thanks

    • in reply to: Conditional Functions (Excel 2003 SP2) #1069624

What I really want that I can’t find a single function for is the standard error for the intercept. LINEST calculates it, but not STEYX. I’ll have to go back to the definition. The problem seems to be that there isn’t a direct function for the residual sum of squares. I need to compare a lot of different regressions based on some conditions. I was hoping to find an shortcut to calculating some of the statistics.

Thanks for your help. If you know of a slick way to compute conditional SSE or MSE, that would be a big help!

Hans – Thank you! That’s exactly what I wanted.

Thank you. I’ll try that. I also forgot to ask about the initial group of categories. The first couple of categories don’t show up on the chart. 1990 has Chemical and Climate chopped off.

    • in reply to: Footnotes (2002 NL) #1013421

I was having footnote numbering problems. My footnotes skipped from 1, 3, 5 then they were consecutive. I changed them to endnotes. That didn’t work. Then I turned off the tracked revisions and converted back to footnotes. That worked! Thanks for the tip!

Hans – That worked. Thanks so much!

    • in reply to: Can’t open file (XP v 2002 SP2) #911760

I did copy it to my laptop which isn’t connected to any network drives. I did finally solve the problem by renaming the files. Then I opened properties. There was a security option that said UNBLOCK. When I selected that, I could open. I still don’t understand why it thought the file wasn’t on my hard disk. Oh well.

      Thanks for your help.

I’ve downloaded it to my computer so I’m not trying to access from a remote location. I assumed it was by design, but is there a way to override?

    • in reply to: Header/Footer in Template doesn’t apple (Word 2003 SP1) #911149

      Hans and Stuart,

Ok. I think I’ve figured out what was going on. When I create a new document, everything is there. I was applying the document to an already existing file and nothing was happening. It seems like it should work both ways. Oh well. Thanks for the help.

    • in reply to: Pivot Tables – saving formatting changes?? (Excel 2003) #866320

I’m having the same problem – formats keep changing back to some default. But I don’t know what format arrows are. Where do you find them? I don’t have any info to select. Do you select the whole pivot table? Is the edge of the field, the edge of the pivot table?

      Thanks.

In Tools/Options/ under the Preferences tab, click on the E-mail options. You can look at the reply specifications. The default is to include the original message text, but there is an option to not include it. It’s in the drop-down menu under Replies and Forwards.
