Thanks for the responses – whilst the escape key is a possibility, if the user recognizes an error, the method by Hans works fine and also allows for a customized message
I was well off the mark with what I thought I could do, but you’ve given me a couple more nuggets, Hans – thanks again

    • An excellent piece of code – just what I was looking for!

    • in reply to: Database cannot be opened (Access 2003) #974992

Hans – thankyou – CurrentDB appears to have done it – going through the code I can see that with the daabase already open, that piece of code was trying to re-open it

I note your Close comments too- thankyou

Thanks – I knew there wuld be simple explanation!

    • in reply to: Call Word from Excel by vba (2000) #919800

Hans – your response generates an error
‘Complie error: user defined type not identified’ on the first line (Dim wrdApp As Word.Application)

I have got ‘MS Office 9.0 object library’ ticked in Tools/References – can you point me any further?
      Thanks

Steves response is simple and straightforward but prints the mailmerge document, rather than running the mailmerge and printing all the pages
I changes the mailmerge document into a *.dot file, buit it then prints only page 1
Is there a way to make it print all the pages?
      I tried – odoc.printout range:=wdPrintFromTo, from:=”1″, to:=”9″
but everything after odoc.prinout appears to be ignored

Thanks to both replies – I’d come across the Excel add-in just after posting – sods law
The ISO solution is ingenious – I should have thought of that too as I use it for filing
      Thanks both

Thanks for the replies – my mistake was creating the form based on the table – not the query – it’s now working fine

    • in reply to: Looping through records (Access 2002) #817879

That was the answer – the more I learn the more I realise I need to learn!
I put in the jet reference because it was shown in a screen dump in an Access book talking about references – I’ve removed it again
Thankyou – I will now stop banging my head against the wall

    • in reply to: ‘SendMail’ failed (Excel97) #685606

I think I may have cracked it! Knowledge base article Q190719 – WD97: No Send To Mail Recipient with Outlook Express and Windows 98 seems to answer the problem
Efectively I have re-installed Windows Messaging on two of the recalcitrant PC’s and the SendMail option has returned with full functionality restored to my Excel VBA
I guess it was never installed on one PC but the other was working, then lost the functionality – the only changes that I can think have occurred is an upgrade to IE6 – maybe that disabled something as part of the Security Upgrade. Thanks anyway to all who replied – nice to know there is someone there when you need help
