AskWoody LoungerSeptember 26, 2002 at 1:14 am in reply to: Suggested changes to spyware fields sniffer macro (97/2000/XP) #620061A lack of time to dig around the yucky mess that is called a word object has led us to adopted Bill Coan’s Hidden Field Detector. Anyone who installed our FieldSniffer should uninstall it and get the new program here. It picks up heaps more than the quck’n dirty Sniffer did. Those of you who’ve previoulsy downloaded Bills program make sure you manually remove his older version. The new version comes with a full install / uninstall which I created for this program. But, the installer can not uninstall the manually copied template.

AskWoody LoungerSorry Kevin,
That code doesn’t do the trick
, although, it’s going in the right direction. Not with the sample that I have received. The beauty about this one is, as usual, that all the “experts” think they know what they are talking about, without having actually seen the real thing. If it was as simple as what appears in this thread, I wouldn’t have bothered writing a detection utility for it. Nor would all the major news services have run with the story.
, maybe scrap that last sentence
.

AskWoody LoungerGeoff, this recipe is in fact quite misleading. I found, after trying to get all those flakes off the wall, that it’s not baked stuffed turkey, rather it is flaked stuffed turkey. If it was really baked, it would have baking soda in it, wouldn’t it now ?

AskWoody LoungerTry to uninstall all network components, then remove the network card and try it without the network card. I had a PC running on W98 which would crash/reboot at least ten times a day, without anyone touching it. I then put W2K onto it, it still crashed. Removed the network protocol/card, everything fine. Put same network card in, re-installed all network drivers, it hasn’t even coughed since then. It now stays up’n running for 3-4 months at a time or until I decide to reboot. Just had a look, it’s been up for 93 days now. (It’s now my internet server).
I can’t guarantee that this will work in your situation, but it’s worth a shot. Also, you must add some more memory to that poor PC, for W2K you should have, IMHO, 256Mb at least, 512 preferred.

AskWoody LoungerAccess has a great interface with your keyboard: If you accidentally hit the F1 key, a help system appears, full of useful information. It’ll even give you samples. You don’t even need to be logged onto the net to use that feature
. Try it, that’s how I learned the basics of this product.

AskWoody LoungerAugust 19, 2002 at 2:41 am in reply to: Installing Outlook usingCustom Installation Wizard (Win 98 / O2K) #609530Have you read : OL2000: How to Configure Outlook Settings in the Custom Installation Wizard ? While the Microsoft “Search” doesn’t give much away, Google gives a fair amount of hits on the MS Site
Hope this helps,

AskWoody LoungerCheck your registry at: HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionPoliciesSystem
Wallpaper REG_SZ C:MyCompanyMyLogo.bmp WallpaperStyle REG_SZ 2 Where WallpaperStyle = 0 (Centered) , 1 (Tiled) or 2 ((Stretched)
If that registry entry exists, you can NOT change your wallpaper. It’s intended to stop employees removing the highly
company logo on their work computers

AskWoody LoungerThe log files created by Ositis WinProxy contain all the info you need, plus it acts as a firewall, and ad-blocker, a full proxy server, in fact everything you need for internet connectivity in a small business. I’ve been using it for 5 years now and never had a moments trouble with it. The only protocol I’m not using via WinProxy is pop and smtp. It’s dead-easy to install and administer too.
