The CreateDate field inserts the current date and does not change when the document is subsequently opened. You would need a macro to insert this field as there is no built-in shortcut or command you can assign a shortcut to in 2007.

You can also add the Insert Field command to the QAT or format the field and add it as an AutoText entry. Perhaps AutoText is the shortcut you remember?

On a Windows keyboard, Win + B will activate the system tray. The arrow keys will go from item to next item, or back, hitting Enter will open it, or Shift + F10 or the app key will simulate right clicking.

Word has a built-in style that indents one inch from both margins. Assign a keyboard shortcut to the Block text style.

AutoText entries are style-sensitive. Click in the footer area and check the style listed in the formatting toolbar. If the style is other than Footer, that may be the problem. Type Footer in the style box, then press Enter to see if the entries appear. If not, there may be corruption in the normal.dot. If you have to rename the normal.dot, use the Organizer to move any macros, AutoText, customizations, etc. to the new normal.dot.
