Well, Mr. Pieterse, now we know why they pay you the big bucks!

I reassigned the macro and all is well, again.

      Thanks, all!

WD- I’ll have to get back to you tomorrow. I had to leave work and, frankly, I don’t recall the security settings. I’m replying from home.

JB- Other macros do run, and, as I mentioned, if I open the VBE and run it, it works fine. And other macros do launch by clicking their respective “button.”

Let’s see, 5:45 pm now, I’ll be back in the office in about 12 hours…(I love my job, I love my job…) Oh, California time.

      thanks,

In recent versions of Word, showing or not showing individual documents as separate tabs on the Taskbar has been a user selectable option. See these threads for how to switch it:

Word 2007 Closing (Word) – using Word options
need a registry key Tools, Options, View (2002 SP3) (Word) – using a script

Thanks, I’ll check this out when I get back to work tomorrow!

      Ahhh. Thanks, Hans.

I did recognoze the Welsh bit, but I didn’t know there was a language that
      pronounced the “W” as a “double-u”!

      Let’s see: Oo-elsh. That works!

I like the new search method. As soon as you start typing, it starts searching.
Often before I finish typing in what I want found, I see it in the “Results” pane.

    • thanks, bosco!

      That works a treat!

    • Has anyone mentioned, lately, that you guys are AMAZING!

      Hans, Steve, Thanks so much.

It will be a little later today before I’ll have a chance to try these.
I expect I’ll start with the formula for immediate purposes and
eventually work the macro solution into a more permanent application.

      thanks again!

    • Hans,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, but sometimes the job has a way of interfering with what I am trying to do here at work! grin

So, I did your latest suggestion.

First I went through all folders called XLSTART and emptied them-moved whatever was there to another folder.
      then I followed your steps.

I found an new XLSTART folder, in a new location that held the new Personal.xls file and I found in one of the original XLSTART folders (that I just emptied) the older Personal.xls files was back!

While writing this I paused, reopened xl and the Personal.xls file opened (visible) so I hid it and closed xl, which prompted me “Do you wish to save the changes to …” which I did. I then opened xl again and it opened with no visible files, but Unhide was active and in selecting it, I was able to see Personal.xls available to be unhid.

I’m thinking, next I should try replacing the new Pers file with the one I want, in this new XLSTART folder and see if that works.

    • Hans,

I set security to low and restarted, no change in behavior.

I checked Disabled Items and there were none…
