I am confused why it would evalute fine when or is selected but not fine when using the mouse to navigate the speadsheet.

    • in reply to: Using Validation (2003 sp2) #1074431

      Here is the sample.

I find that if I change an existing value, I can click elsewhere with the mouse. If the cell is initially blank, I cannot click with the mouse.

I put the wrong instructions in the workbook. You can enter a number between 1 and 93. I believe you can also enter a value begining with an “R”.

Why didn’t I think of that? In manual mode that is how I would do it!

      It works just fine. Thanks.

    • in reply to: Max file size? (2003 SP2) #1061374

      Thanks, that was helpful.

We have persuaded the Engineer that he needs to trim his data with another application and that he can use Excel with a smaller data set.

    • in reply to: Max file size? (2003 SP2) #1061036

      The file is 287MB.

I agree with you and tried to steer the user to another application. However, he is an engineer and knows how to use Excel. If we were to put the data into Oracle and then extract the data he needs to work with at the moment, he will feel like he lost control. An engineer cannot have that!

      Thanks.

Mostly I am interested in whether we have hit the ceiling. I believe there are other products we can use, like Oracle and Minitab, and I am pushing the user that direction.

      Thanks.

    • in reply to: Buttons on spreadsheet (not form) (Excel 2003 SP2) #1050065

I was using a form command button. I was unaware of the control command button. In a couple of minutes I figured it out. Thanks.

Is there a discussion regarding the differences between the two and when to use which? It appears to me that a form command button dropped on a worksheet is a workbook level object, but a control command button is a sheet level object. Is this correct.

      Thaks for the quick response.

Thanks again! I used to be good on Excel, until I started learning it. Now I realize how much more there is to learn. 😉

    • in reply to: Dynamic Range and Array Formula (Excel 2003 SP2) #1049145

Thanks. I found it. Stupid mistake
My range named count is =OFFSET(Data!$A$2,0,1,COUNT(Data!C:C),1)
      Changed to
My range named count is =OFFSET(Data!$A$2,0,1,COUNT(Data!$C:$C),1)

Note the absolute range reference in $C:$C in the new version. I thought I had done array math on dynamic ranges before!

    • in reply to: Video Issue on Laptop (XP Home, SP2) #1047938

Thanks. I took a quick look. Like I said, this is a friends laptop, so I well get with him in a day or two and we will give it a try. I will let you know.

    • in reply to: Video Issue on Laptop (XP Home, SP2) #1047769

I found it. The key. Hmmm, I have not seen that before. I did hook it up to an external monior and used the to test. Obviously that was not it. I have a wide screen Dell and it has a narrow screen function, generally used when hooked to a projection device.

There is an updated video driver/ video bios flash on the dell site also. Thanks.

    • in reply to: Change start date (2002 sp1) #1001304

      That did the trick. Thanks.

    • in reply to: Format as text (Excel 2002 sp3) #989074

Thanks. I tried that, it did not work. I read your post so I tried it again. It helps if I type in the correct column number! Now I feel silly.

      Thanks again.

    • in reply to: Row Number (97) #984415

Thanks. I followed the thread and got it to work. IMHO it is rinky-dink, but it works.

    • in reply to: Outlook vs Express (2003) #969150

Thanks. The comparison’s made my decision easy. For me it is Express for home use.

    • in reply to: IIS Server Extensions #950930

I got it. Found it here http://www.greyware.com/kb/iiscgiextraconfig.asp. Seems as everything must be done twice. The Application Extension Mapping, which I missed and then adding it to the WebService Extension Restriction list (WSERL).

      Thanks for the direction.
