Thanks for the info, will give it a try. Is there any particular reason for the landscape part. All but one of my diagrams is portrait.
Tried it and it works great. Thanks.

AskWoody LoungerThanks very much.
The first suggestion worked. Guess my problem was that I didn’t think if the line as a shape so never tried that option when I was trying to get the line behind the shape.

AskWoody LoungerWhat I am looking for is some way to automatically lock the cell after the user has entered data.
I know how to lock cells and then protect a worksheet. In this situation, I would not know when the user entered the data. I would like to have it so that once they entered data, and moved to another cell, the cell containing the entered data would automatically lock, preventing them from changing the contents. If there was an error they would have to contact the admin to change it. -

AskWoody LoungerThanks for the ideas, I have passed them on. The master background was white with just a splash of yellow across each slide separating the title from the main part of each slide. I’m sure the suggestions offered will solve her problem.

found the problem,
used my favourite search engine, keyed in
“master document”+print+Wordgot http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/ar…s/q211/4/26.asp
seems they were looking at the document in outline view. Looks fine for print preview but doesn’t print properly, switched to normal view and it worked like a charm

but will check the drivers in the morning…
never had this problem with any other similar documents, was just wondering if someone else had run into it -

AskWoody LoungerThanks Charlotte. I endedup exporting it to a text file then doing the import. Bit more work, but achieved what I wanted.

AskWoody LoungerThanks Rory, I think it must have been the saving that was causing my problem. It’s working now. I made the changes, then saved, but when I tried to close it again got the message box about “This action will reset the current code in break mode.” That window does not allow me to choose NO. Before whenever I chose Yes, then rechecked the code it was back at the original. This time with saving before getting that message seemed to do the trick.

AskWoody Loungerwould love to know if you come up with a way around the problem. Have run into it myself. The only shorcut I can come up with is to copy the password onto the clipboard and paste it as I lock/unlock each sheet.

AskWoody LoungerThanks Charlotte, but can I ask another question? How do I reference the form in the criteria.
I created a table called tblType and a Field called Cities so in my form called frmTypeSelect I made a combo box called cboTypeCities.
In my criteria on the query I tried
=[Forms]![frmTypeSelect]![cboTypeCities]
but when I run the query I still have to type London in. -
WScapri
AskWoody LoungerThanks Thomas,
I tried the Left(UID,4) but the query simply listed all of the activities without the decimal place eg
1000
1000
1000
1050
1050I think I will have to consider making a separate table for SubActivities. I was hoping to avoid this, as once the users start making their own input to the database, it is likely to confuse them. Originally I just wanted all of the activites to follow a logical numbering sequence. I put the decimals in place in case one or more activities had to be inserted between 2 that were consecutive in number. However as I was building the database and showed it to my manager, he wanted some activities divided into two or more pieces. eg.
Dept A will provide evidence of all required insurance in the form of a completed certificate of insurance.
Dept B will verify that Dept A has provided evidence of all insurance. This originally was one activity, but I divided it into 2. One Dept is more of a managing area so many of it’s activities are simply verifying that Dept A completed the required task.
As you can see the activites are directly related to one another and I wanted some way to reflect that with the numbering. If I could continue to have total control over the input of the activities, it would be no problem, but I am only on contract here and eventually the users will be doing a lot more of the creation of activities.
I suppose I could create an input form for them, so that they wouldn’t really have to know that the activities are in different tables.

AskWoody LoungerThanks,
I found it. I had done a search, but my search on file paths came up blank. Didn’t think to look for file name. -
WScapri
AskWoody LoungerI know this sounds rather obvious, but is there any chance your database was on a LAN?
Many people in my office don’t realize the LAN is backed up nightly, so when they lose something, and I advise them to approach the support dept about getting a backup they are amazed to find that they can retrieve the previous days file.
For security reason I never put any of my important files anywhere but on the LAN or zipped on a CD that I can lock up.
Just thought it was worth mentioning.
