    • Hi. I had thought of that. However, when I paste it into a blank document the line number remains…..

    • I just found a solution.

By pasting all the text from the document into a normal template, the blank pages disappear.

This suggests that there is a document property that causes the blank pages, but I don’t know where it is set.

    • Hi. In this case, it is unlikely that the section breaks are corrupt. The blank page occurs in every document based on that template, so I expect there is some setting in the document that is forcing the blank page.

If I turn off “Different Odd and Even” then I lose the alignment of the page numbers in the footers.

    • This document has a similar page setup, but there are no blank pages.

Brilliant!!! Thank you to everyone. bananas

It is better because we need to work with the hidden text displayed. However the footer doesn’t show the StyleRef field any more!!

How do you insert the Style Separator, and what is it?

Not really, the superscript needs to be in the same line as the Title. Perhaps your version of Word is showing them on the same line, but my version (XP) is showing them on 2 separate lines.

Unfortunately, my footnote reference in the Title is just a superscript letter (not a true footnote) (see attached).

The title only ever appears once in the document (at the top).

Currently, we use a REF field and the title is bookmarked. However, we sometimes find that the bookmarks disappear and we lose the reference. This can be very embarassing. Is there a way to prevent this from happening? If not, it would be good if we can somehow use the STYLEREF field instead.

I don’t think that using the Document properties will work either, because the Title is sometimes changed in the document.

As for using Character styles, can these disappear as easily as bookmarks?

      Thanks.

Thanks Steve and Hans. I basically want to show all the differences between the 2 worksheets (like Word’s Compare and Merge Feature”). Word shows what has been inserted, and what has been deleted.

Thanks Andrew. I just found some code which set the height of the multipage. AHHHH…..

    • in reply to: Default font for substitution (WordXP) #992559

The Fonts Preferences tab (in the print driver) for the problem printer contained the Font Substitution table that Word uses. The first font in the list for substitution was Albertus MT. I am not sure how to specify the default font from the printer driver, but it would be helpful if it was Times New Roman, instead.
      Many thanks for your help.

These threads were very helpful. By using the Tools/Options/Compatibility Tab/Font substitution button, I can find out if there are any uninstalled fonts in the document. Or, to check for uninstalled fonts I just run the following macro:

      Application.Dialogs(wdDialogFontSubstitution).Show

If there are no uninstalled fonts then it says so, otherwise it allows you to substitute the fonts.

    • in reply to: Postscript font (WordXP) #991303

I am not able to “Find” the font using the Find dialog box, because it doesn’t appear in the list.

Is there a way to detect if there are fonts used in a document other that the standard fonts? For example, all the styles are based on ‘Times New Roman’ and ‘Arial’. So, if I can find a way to find other fonts then that would be a great help.

    • in reply to: Pasted image is cropped (WordXP) #989662

The source of the image was from a Word document. I think that the original image was pasted into the document using Ctrl + V (Paste). Therefore, it was probably converted to HTML. When I pasted this into my Word document, some of the image was lost.

Is there a good resource somewhere that explains how Word handles images?

    • in reply to: Section Breaks HELP! (WordXP) #988493

THANK YOU!!! That is extremely helpful and I will now be able to fix all my old documents… bingo

I have another question. When I set the page setup in my templates to be 841.95 points, it sometimes rounds up to 842 points. In some other templates it rounds down to 841.9 points. Is there something in the template that causes the rounding to occur?
