      Marilyn hi.

      Did you resolve your original problem with the table reformatting when you changed a style component?

      I am running O XP, Win XP and am having the same problem. I checked the advice that Klaus has given you, regarding the undo button, but it makes no difference in my document, which is very small. A table with about 20 lines used to format a report.

      Whenever I want to copy a shape I; select the pointer option, click on the shape to highlight, press ctrl + D (duplicate), click either paste or ctrl + V, and drag copy where I want it.

      I find this particularly useful when there is restricted space and you wish to add a number of separate notes next to the flowchart.

      Before you install you may wish to read Woody’;s Office Watch #7.39.

      Extract – “Installing Office 2000 Service Pack 2 prevents Outlook from showing you many files that are attached to email messages.”

      Insert the Visio drawing as an object then right click and Format object and select the layout you require. If you link to the file then it is easily editable.

    • in reply to: Convering WP documents to Word #593927

      I too have been down this path with several users swearing that WP was the best thing since sliced bread!

      Some time ago Woody developed as small macro that changed the Ctrl V insert in Word to insert copied text unformatted. Foe me it worked just great.

      You have to develop the following macro attached to the Normal.dot;

      Sub PasteUnformatted()

      ‘ PasteUnformatted Macro
      ‘ Macro recorded 20/11/2001 by Phil Carter

      Selection.PasteSpecial DataType:=wdPasteText
      End Sub

      The next step is to to reassign the Ctrl V key sequence to this macro.

      Hope this this works OK.

      Good luck

      I use Insert|Object and link to *.VSD file.

      Have several docs that run many pages and never have prob with major delays. The pinter, HP Deskjet 6L, hesitates when it comes across a flowchart or drawing.. If I print to the HP 4000 on the network no probs.

    • in reply to: Disk is Full (Word 2000 SR1) #587815

      I have also had this problem. It turned out that I had somehow got multiple copies of Word running.
      Go Ctr Alt Del and check the Task Manager to see if you have multiple copies of Word running. Kill them all, as it it is a bit hard to determine which is the copy you want to stay open, and restart Word.

    • in reply to: Documnet control issues (W2k, W2k) #583906

      I’ve been thinking more about this and the more I think about it the worse it gets. To try and code this would be horrendous. flee

      Thanks all the same for the offer but I think I will stick to a manual system.

    • in reply to: lines send to back strange behaviour (Office 2000) #581667

      When I insert Visio flowcharts I always use Insert|Object as I have found, as you have, that copy & paste does strange things. Of course if you want the flowcharts to update automatically yoy should check “Link to file?”.

    • in reply to: Style name will not change (Word 2k, Win 2k) #581228

      Again thanks Charles

      Unkamunka sugested I include the file in zip. Wow technology! Forgot about that aspect.

      cheers

    • in reply to: Style name will not change (Word 2k, Win 2k) #581198

      Thanks Charles

      I tried to send you a copy of my Normal.dot but the system rejected it. Then tried a personal contact and could not figure hiw to attach a file in that screen.

      Could you contact me personally to allow me to send my Normal.dot for you to review?

      Cheers

    • in reply to: Floppy drive not working? (Win XP OEM) #580606

      Thanks Dave. The first thing I checked.

      I have spoken with the manufacturer they now tell me this is a know fault. censored

    • in reply to: Floppy drive not working? (Win XP OEM) #580571

      Thanks for that.

      I haven’t tried scanning a new disk but have tried formatting on another machine, Win 98, and trying to read. No success.

      I think you may be right, I should go back to the supplier. censored

    • in reply to: Templates (9.0.2729) #573477

      Thanks for that. I will try inserting the code.
      What I originally wanted to do was to create a new document from the template and run the macro from a toolbar selection. I found that even pointing the menu selection to the Templates folder “opened” the document and did not create a “new” document as I wanted causing the problem already mentioned.
