      I’ve done it.
The name of the clip art was to long, it would not let me delete it or change its name.
It was in 4 or may be 5 folders inside each other Cartoon male Black – white another another
I tried to move the clip art out of the folder it said Name to long etc then I tried to move the clip art in one folder. And it moved,!! So I tried to rename it and it worked.
It seemed to be a the fact that the name was too long and in too many folders, reduce trhe number of folders and it let me rename

      Thanks Jscher2000

I have looked at this counter’s Terms and Conditions which state.

” 17.1 Some of the Services are supported by advertising revenue and may display advertisements and promotions. These advertisements may be targeted to the content of information stored on the Services, queries made through the Services or other information.
17.2 The manner, mode and extent of advertising by Google on the Services are subject to change without specific notice to you. ”

I am not very keen on Adverts on the site; it is just a small Local History Site.

      Thanks again

      Thanks Byron for your comment.

I have download Recuva which I run, and a lot of the file word files I can new open plus a few of the GIF files, so it must be the Undelete software, but none of JPG were even listed.

I have now run it again on different settings and recovered most of the JPG fils.

      Thanks again Byron

      Hi Tim

“What version of Windows are you using?”
      XP with SP3 fully updated

“Do you have another computer that you can test Quicken 2000 on?”
Yes Quicken as never been on this computer, I installed it, stopped it from setting up a new account, went into restore back up and it did, and it worked OK WHY

Do you have two physical hard drives on your computer C: and E: , or is E: a partition of the same physical drive?
I have two physical hard drives on me computer C: and E:
E is an interal drive, not a exteral

I have copied the data base from A: back up on to my Memory stick. OK
Then run and updated Quicken which was saved to my memory stick OK
Then backed up to C: to a folder I called Quicken Data back-up not copied OK
Then I tried to run Quicken from Quicken Data, Quicken said “Cannot read file”

I have just tried un-installing from the Programs own un-installer to see if that made any difference it did not.

I don’t like those programs own un-installer I prefer to use Add and remove programs and then edit the register which I do most times I un-install any program.

      Hi Tim

“Is the Quicken Program actually loaded on and working from your memory stick?”

Quicken is loaded on C: The data is on the memory stick

“The program works from your memory stick,”

The data works from your memory stick, but not from my hard drive

“If the program will run on the memory stick, can you use that to open the file on the hard drive?”

The data will only run from the memory stick, [which was copied from the back up on A; drive] but not from the hard drive,
Quicken says if I try to open the data base on C: cannot read file.

I have updated the data and told Quicken to back up to a folder I called Quicken Data on C: which it did but it will not open these files, it say cannot read files.

“I would do a Search for Intuit Folders on your hard drive.”

      I did and found nothing

      Thanks

      Hi Tim

With Quicken closed … Does the good file on the memory stick open Quicken and the data file – if you just double click the file?

      YES

Next I would try to copy the good files from the memory stick to some other folder on your hard drive – for example …. make MyDocuments>Quicken Data. Try to open Quicken file from the new data file location.

My Documents are on E: not C: if I copy the files off the memory stick to E: My Documents I get could not read file, but if I copy them any where else on C: Quicken it wants to start up a new Quicken altogether, not read the data base.

I do not know what steps you took to “uninstall” Quicken.
This link might help Uninstalling and reinstalling Quicken
Please note the “restart” after uninstalling and the “restart” after re-installing.

I cannot get Quicken to install in My Programs it installs on C: but on the root of the drive. So it does not appear in Add & Remove Programs, but it as worked OK this way for years. So I deleted the Quickenw folder, then run a register clean up program, then I went into Regedit and cleaned it up by hand. Then reinstalled Quicken.

I started Quicken up from memory stick up dated it OK the told it to back up to C:Quicken Back Up which it did, I removed the stick then tried to start up from the new back up on C: drive Quicken said cannot read file.

Here are a couple more links that may help …
      Resolving errors while starting Quicken
      1. Start Quicken without a data file:
      a. Press the CTRL key while starting Quicken.
      b. When Quicken successfully opens without a data file, only the File and Help menus will appear on a blank, gray screen.
      2. If Quicken starts successfully without a data file, create a new data file by choosing New from the Quicken File menu.
      3. Create a checking account in the new file and make a few test entries. If this new file does not generate error messages, there is probably data damage in the old file. Correct data file corruption to resolve this issue.
      4. If an error message or General Protection Fault (GPF) is generated while opening Quicken without a data file, reinstall Quicken.
1A – B It will do this 2 It will do this 3 the file cannot be corrupt or it would not start on the memory stick.
Basic troubleshooting to correct data file damage The file is not damaged or it would not open on the memory stick

Advanced troubleshooting to repair data file damage The file is not damaged or it would not open on the memory stick

      I have read through the info on all the files above but I can not see any where, where the program working off a copy of the back up files but will not read it own back up its made on C;

      Hi Tim

This makes not differences; I have tried re-naming, and then removing, still would not open.

      I have reinstalled Quicken
Coped just the Data dbase to hard drive QDF
      It would not open.

I have started Quicken up by clicking on the data file on a memory stick [ with no other file only the dbase] and it opens, then I tried to get it to back up to C:Quicken on the hard drive which it did , but it still would not start from the hard drive

    • in reply to: Down Load up dates #1218066

I tried Windows Update Catalog, the site uploaded, but said site error and closed down straight away, I tried a number of time over the last couple of days, may try again later.

Using “WSUS Offline Update”, you can update any computer running Microsoft Windows safely, quickly and without an Internet connection.

I have down loaded the “WSUS Offline Update”, I started to go through the menus I ticked exclude Service packs a new menu came up

“The combination of excluder Service packs and clean up down load options will delete previously downloaded Service Packs for the selected products.

      Do you wish to proceed?

I have found the date of SP3 which is May 6 2008

That is all I want to download all updates from May 2008 to put on a CD I do not want it to mess with my hard drive
