I had that problem years ago when I created an account under the name “dmac”. I instantly began to get spam, as well as another person’s legitimate mail. Seems someone else had it before me.
Changed the name to a much more “spam proof” (as in longer with special characters) name and the problem was solved.

I’ve had Dell’s do this, the fan jumps up to top speed so it sounds a little like a hair dryer, or jet fan. Sometimes indicates the computer is on it’s way out. Don’t know if it will help but you could try taking the heat sink off the CPU and replace the cooling/insulating paste that helps with heat transfer.

    • Do you need the netbook connected to the network?

    • It would also help to know the type and model of laptop, plus the wifi software in use, to see if it had tools to limit the connection.

Will the Hard Drive Recovery partition (N=3)? If you can boot to that it should reformat the drive and put everything back as it was. Other than that…

    • in reply to: Location of Word 2010 Templates #1454219

QAT = Quick Access Toolbar – By default it’s the short toolbar above the Tabs “Home, Insert…”, click the weird symbol at the end of the line (like a downward pointing triangle) and it gives you some quick customizations and access to “More Commands”.

To convert your templates you only have to open them and resave them as .dotx (plain templates), or .dotm (templates with macros’).

To find where your files are located by default, click File, Options, Advanced, Scroll to the bottom and select “File Locations…”

    • in reply to: Network printer “offline” (but it isn’t) #1454051

In the meantime, if you delete the non-functioning printer before you try to re-install it, you won’t have multiple copy numbers.
You can also look into your connection type. If it’s using an IP address, the printer address could be changing – but most brother printers are connected by a UNC name.
But I’ve never seen this problem before on a networked printer. I only recall this problem with USB connected printers.

I won’t be of much help, but I believe we need more info.

Are you working in Excel, or Access, and which version? An Excel 2010 worksheet shows over 1,000,000 rows in a blank sheet.

    • in reply to: Downgrade new 64 bit machine to 32 bit Win-7? #1453300

When I got my 3 license upgrade it came with both 32 and 64 bit disks, so I don’t believe MS really cares which of them you use, the license was valid for both.

Likely you had selected a stacked chart format.

      Glad you worked it out.

Desktop.ini is just a normally hidden file that keeps track of info such as where Icons are on your desktop.
