Not a solution for you I am afraid frown, but just letting you know that you are not alone in this.

Our office quite regularly prints up manuals of 30 plus pages and have this same behaviour from our printer. If we need to print 10 copies of the manual, it will print up one copy of page 1, then 10 copies of page2, 10 copies of page 3 etc. dizzy

Sent the printer back to be looked at, but that did not fix the problem, so it is obviously something within the software somewhere.

I will be very interested if anyone has experienced this problem and found a solution.

      Cheers,

      Hi Terry,

I don’t believe that you can search by company name in the “Find a Contact” box, but there are a couple of other things you could try that do not take too long.

While in your Contacts folder, click on the “Find” button on the Standard Toolbar (or press + i) and type in the company name. Have the search check all text within the contacts and it will even search through any notes that you have in your contacts. If you have all the company names entered this should now present you with a list of those contacts that have that company name listed.

Alternatively, you could try changing your view as View-Current View-By Company. Again, if you have all the company fields filled out correctly, it should be a simple job to find all the contacts that belong to the company.

      Hope this helps. smile

If you only know the surnames of the people, you should be able to do a quick search on these as well.

In the Standard toolbar, next to the Address Book icon, you should have the “Find a Contact” box. If you type in a surname in this area and hit it should bring up a list of possibilities from within the Global Address List. You can even type in a partial name (ie. Peter P or P Pan) and it will try and resolve that using all address books which are registered.

      Hope this helps.

      Mike,

Unfortunately there does not seem to be any way around this problem of creating separate profiles and logging in using them. I had a similar problem recently (see this thread) but there does not seem to be any other solution than that suggested by jscher and Allen. shrug

If you are successful in finding anything, please let us all know.

Sorry I can’t give you any more hope. sigh

Okay, it seems like I am on my own for this one sad.
I thought it was quite a big ask, but better to ask the question than sit and wonder.

Looks like they are going to have to make do with one of the partial solutions we have come up with so far.

Thanks to Becky, jscher for their previous replies. cheers

Becky, jscher and anyone else that might be able to help me.

Okay, a few new twists have occurred with my problem now. We have now created a Public Folder for the client so that all mail directed to an email address is posted to this folder. From there, all the staff are able to go to the public folder to collect any mail sent to the department. No problem. angel

They wanted to be able to send replies to these emails, so we have given them “send as” permissions so that their replies come from the “Public Folder” email address. All working fine. clever

However, they want to be able to send out a bulk mailing to all of their clients, also using this Public Folder email address, so that any replies are automatically sent directly to the Public Folder. Not so good. beep

From what I have been able to figure out, you cannot log into Outlook using one of these Public Folder accounts, and you cannot setup a profile with the desired sender details (as required by Exchange), because it doesn’t recognise the account as a user. So I am now back to square one on how to have a mailmerged mass mailout all appear to come from this Public Folder address. drop

I found two utilities which came very close to helping me out.

      1. This ">MassMail sample goes very close to what we are after, but does have a drawback. It will only read the addresses from a text file which contains only email addresses. It would be much more convenient if it would look directly into the contacts list which they keep updated. This is constantly changing as they gain new clients and drop old ones off their list. Exporting the details from the contacts to a text file is not that hard, but as it is a constantly changing list, it is something that they would have to do every time they wanted to do a mailout. Although they are quite good in pointing out exactly what they want to do, none of the staff are “computer smart” enough to complete this without their hands being held.

Do any of you know of anything that is out there that can do the following:
      a. Mailmerge to a large list of clients, so that they receive personalised emails,
      b. Have the From address as a Public Folder email address,
      c. Be capable of placing attachments within the outgoing email,
      d. Read required address from a Contact folder.
      e. Work on a Windows NT4.0 system using Office 2000.

Sorry that this is so long and wordy, but I wanted to try and state my problem as clearly as possible, as well as showing what I had already tried. I am sure that there is someone out there that has been able to achieve what I need to do, or that can modify some of the things I have tried to make them work the way the people in this department want them to. grovel

Any of you that have bothered to read all of this, your help will be extremely appreciated as I am now completely at a loss as to where to go from here. confused

Thanks in advance for any replies which may be forthcoming.

      Becky and jscher.

Thanks for the advice. I had tried to get them to log on to Outlook as the generic mailbox earlier, but they were quite adamant that that was just too much hassle for them. argue To appease them, I was hoping that there might be some other solution out there that someone was aware of. Not to worry… I will go back to them and tell them that it looks like their best option is as stated above. bash

Just for your info, I am going to trial something called MassMail 1.0 by Vertigo Software which I am led to believe will accomplish what I am after. I will let you know how I go.

      Thanks again,

    • in reply to: Spell Checking Form Fields #540692

Please ignore my request for help in the previous post.

I noticed that Charles Kenyon advised that there was an update to the Spell Check code on the MVPS site in his latest update New on the Word MVP FAQ Page and tried that out on the templates I have been making.

All is now right with the world, and all fields are being checked for spelling every time the macro is run. smile

Thanks very much to all the Loungers who have submitted to this thread, you have saved me from many headaches in this task. thumbup

      Hi Geoff,

I was hoping that you might be able to help me out with a problem I am experiencing with Dave Rado’s code on the MVPS site. After searching high and low for just such a solution to spell checking protected form fields, I came across your posting and it appeared that my search was over.

However it seems that it is doing something quite strange when the macro code is run. I have created a couple of templates which have 2 sections to them. The first section contains form fields and is protected. The second section is plain text, unprotected. When the Spell Check macro is run it successfully checks a couple of the protected fields in section one, then moves on to successfully check all of the text in section 2. It does, however, leave a couple of fields unchecked in the first section. If I run the macro again, it picks up all errors in all fields and text with no problems.

Could you shed any light on why the code is not checking all of the fields on the first run? All of the fields are formatted the same (normal text) so I can see no reason for this inconsistency, even with my extremely limited experience with VBA.

Any help would be very welcomed.

      Barry Green
