Glad to have been able to help Daphne groovin.

Have a great day.

Hi Daphne,

Just thought of another possibility that may result in messages being left in the users Outbox.

Open up one of the messages in the Outbox and then go to the View menu and select Options. About half way down the form is a check box for “Save sent message to:”.

1. Ensure that this box is checked.
2. Make sure that “Sent Items” is the default folder.

I have known for this entry to be incorrectly set for some users and this may be the case here.

Hope it works.

Hi Daphne,

One other thing you might want to check. Are the emails in the Outbox in italics or normal style font? If they are in italic style they are still queued to be sent when you connect. If they are in normal font they will need to be re-sent. This can sometimes happen if the user opens the email from within the Outbox. You will need to open the email and then select Actions – Resend this Message.

Not sure if this is the problem, but it gives you another option to check anyway.

Cheers,

Leif,

The firmware upgrade was unsuccessful. However it appears that the culprit all along has been a faulty network card in the printer.

Our problems started getting worse and eventually we were not able to print from any program (or even ping the printers IP address). We cahnged over the network card to see if that would give it a kick start and it has fixed all of our problems. It is even printing from the internet again.

Thanks for your time.

Cheers,

Hi Leif,

Thanks for the reply. The Page Setup settings are fine. In fact we have since figured out that every PC that tries to print from the web to this printer produces the same result, so it is not an individual PC setting problem.

Print Preview works fine. Everything looks great until you actually try to print it.

Outlook HTML formatted emails print fine.

It looks to me more and more like a problem with the printer itself. I have updated the print drivers but this has not made any difference to the problem. I am in the middle of applying a firmware upgrade to the printer to see if that fixes the problem. I will let you know how it goes.

Thanks again for the reply.

Cheers,

Thanks Mary J,

I was afraid that this was the case since I hadn’t been able to find a solution anywhere as yet.

I guess I will just have to sit and wait to see if Microsoft give us a fix for this one. beep

• in reply to: Mailmerge Error (Outlook 2002) #565385

Thanks Leif,

This has certainly been a tough one to find out any information about. That site seems to be the only one out there that shows the exact error message they are receiving. Microsoft do not seem to even acknowledge that this error message exists. shrug

I think I will have to put it down to the fact that they are trying to merge from a Contacts public folder. Unless any Loungers know of some workaround for this (I won’t hold my breath), I will just let them know that they will have to copy the public folder into a temporary contacts folder in their own mailbox.

Thanks for finding that for me Leif, much appreciated. thumbup

• in reply to: Default Address Formatting (2000 SP1) #558690

Hi Melissa,

As I understand it, when your Regional Settings are set to English Australian, Outlook then expects that you will enter addresses into Contacts using the “Australia Post preferred way”.

Using this method you should not be using the full wording for the state (ie. Western Australia) but should be using the standard abbreviation (ie. WA). I know that this doesn’t solve your problem, and I am not sure how you would go about changing the default address format, but at least it explains a little about why it is behaving the way it is.

Using your example you would need to have your address in the following format:

7 James Street
Suburb WA 6000

(Note: no punctuation to be used at all)

Sorry I can’t help you out any more than this. sad

Hi dougui,

You haven’t stated whether you use an Exchange server or not, so I will assume that you are working in a stand-alone type configuration.

If this is the case your emails will all be located within your Outlook.pst file stored on your HDD. The path to the data file should be something like this :

:Documents and SettingsLocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftOutlookOutlook.pst

Naturally you will need to replace the drive and user variables with the correct ones from your configuration. If you place this data file on a drive that is accessible by the other machine, you should then be able to import the data file to the new machine through the File menu and Import and Export option.

Hope this is of some help.

Hi Cees,

Just a couple of questions regarding your problem. You said in one of your postings:
Whenever I start up Word and it gets to its new page it stays there for a few seconds a than disappears to my windows startup screen (the one with all the icons).
When you say windows startup screen, are you meaning the Task Bar at the bottom of the main window (this is where all of the running programs can be seen as buttons)? If this is the case, it may well be that your shortcuts to the programs have somehow been changed to Run Minimised. Open the properties for the programs you are trying to start and have a look at the Shortcut tab. What is the entry alongside the Run: section (this will be one of Normal Window, Minimized or Maximized).

Of course I might be misreading your problem entirely and the programs are closing down completely, it is just that from your postings I got the impression that they were not closing entirely, but just minimizing.

Please let me know if I am way off track with this.

Cheers,

Frank,

Not sure whether you have tried this or not, but it should work for you. Click on the Task Pane’s header and drag it across to the right. When you have dragged it far enough it should automatically dock on the right of the window as per normal. Once you have done this it should start there the next time you start Word.

Hope this helps,

• in reply to: Superscripts (Word 2000) #555057

Glad it is working okay for you now.

Cheers,

• in reply to: Superscripts (Word 2000) #554881

Hi Debby,

If you try the following keyboard shortcuts you should have some success:

Subscript toggle Ctrl + = (press Control and Equal keys at same time)
Superscript toggle Ctrl + Shift + = (press Control, Shift and Equal keys at same time)

Now although this is, in effect, exactly what you stated in your post (Shift and Equal being the same as Plus), I get the feeling that you may not be using the Shift key as they are both coming out as subscript. The superscript shortcut definitely needs three keys pressed at the same time.

Hope this helps you out.

• in reply to: Making OL open a different e-mail (OL98) #554774

Hi MDB,

Not sure about the /select switch you have already tried to use, but there is another one that you might like to try. I know that this one works quite well with Outlook 2000 and Outlook 2002, but I have not had the oppourtunity to try it out on Outlook 98 yet.

If you run Outlook from Start-Run, or create a shortcut to it on your desktop, try putting the switch /nopreview after it. This makes the Preview Pane unavailable within Outlook and should hopefully stop the program from locking up before you have a chance to rectify any problems.

Hope this helps,
