AskWoody LoungerWell I can’t tell you what I did
, but I got it working this morning. As much as I THINK I understand how this stuff works, I stil sometimes can’t figure out why Project is doing something. v2003 is better for me, but … The dialog looks a bit weird now as the effort driven checkbox is checked AND greyed out but since I changed it to fixed work it makes some sense.
You mention resource pools. Do you have a good link explaining how they work. When I’ve set them up for this master/sub project they don’t work as I expect. I’ve tried to make each one the master pool and neither option gave me the results I’m looking for. What I want is for the master project to have it’s set of resources, which are available in the sub projects and are leveled across the master and sub-projects. I want additional resources in the sub projects which are only used by them. Right now the resources duplicate. I want the sub projects worked on by the sub project managers and show only their resources and then for it all to roll up into my master project correctly.

AskWoody LoungerI’m having a similar problem, but only with specific programs. This is on a new Dell with WinXP fully patched.
1) Yahoo messenger; Runs at startup and often doesn’t display the system tray icon. On my other computer, configured exactly the same it’s there, and when I minimize Yahoo it stays there and isn’t in the taskbar… just as I’ve set it up. If I minimize on this computer when the tray icon is missing, it just disappears and I have to rerun the program.
2) PC Mag Util Startup Cop. Runs at startup. The task manager shows it’s running but it doesn’t display in the system tray and I don’t think it’s monitoring as it’s supposed to. SOMETIMES I can end the process and manually restart it successfully.
3) PC Mag Util Robotype usually starts with a “Fatal Error, Unable to install system tray icon”. I have to then restart it manually. This always works.I’ve tried Kelly’s notification fixer tool. No luck. This is a NEW build. What could be up? At first I thought I had too much running at startup, but I’ve removed several programs to no avail.

AskWoody LoungerRather than get the email addresses from a contact folder…I have a huge spreadsheet of email addresses and other data and need to send out an email to everyone on the list. Is there a good cheat doc on doing something like this. Data in Excel, message to send in word or outlook form, email addresses in the same Excel and sending through Exchange.

AskWoody LoungerI don’t have the install on my system so I’m not sure. I picked it up about three months or so ago.

AskWoody LoungerSeems faster. It was actually the send to powertoys that did it. Thanks.

AskWoody LoungerThis makes some sense as it happened sometime after I’d started working part time on someone elses domain. I can’t pin point when as it’s been doing it for a while. If it helps, the entire start menu is weird . When I choose “Programs” for example, it takes a couple of seconds to display, then disappears for a second then returns. If I try to move to it before it disappears I have to start all over.
I’ll try to paste or attach a copy of my Send To menu here. I notice a D: and F: drive at the bottom. They are my external drives and only seem to show up on the SendTo menu when attached. The Where is from PC Magazine and it kind of seems to me I added it sometime around when this began. I should uninstall and test.

AskWoody LoungerThanks for the reply. I’d set it up to run this way because of a response here to my IE6 script de###### and other error message(s) question a couple of months ago. Running it actually fixed it for a while, but now it really doesn’t help. I’m going to stop it from running upon boot.

AskWoody LoungerI understand that, however, since we have a bunch of contractors who come in and form the team on the fly, our workgroups are different. Most of us can see everyone and the guy next to me can’t. We can’t figure out why. Others can see 1/2 of the group.

AskWoody LoungerI’ve had this problem before and this tactic solved it. However I have a similar question about my current local net and none of the machines have the same user/password/workgroup. Some can see everything, some can’t. Any ideas?
