This is great and exactly what I want. However it doesn’t work with my data pasted from Outlook. I get a #VALUE as a result. The data looks the same but it must not be (although I did format them both to general and the start time for yours and mine both show 0.270833333333333. I even tried to format the columns as time and then as the same custom format as your file showed h:mm AM/PM.

The attached will calculate time spent in Hours and Minutes.

      Same problem

Once Pagedefrag is dl’ed, right click>properties and unblock if needed. Then right click and select ‘Run as Administrator. Mine defrags every reboot.

Pagedefrag won’t work on my Vista64 Machine. Says it can’t load the drivers and that I must be an administrator. Of course I am! Please advise

Sorry to say that project is long gone and I don’t exactly remember the details. Thanks for the reply.

What other Predecessors have you set? Are there any Summary-level tasks (e.g., Tasks, Deliverables, etc…)? Is there a Predecessor for the summary-level task? Other than the Predecessor for Deliverable 1, what Predecessors have you set?

I’m having a similar problem that I just came here for although I’m on Project 2007. I want to assign one resource to be available no more than 1/2 time. This can be between 8 and 5 but never available for more than 4 hours per day. So I created a 1/2 time calendar and assigned it to him. This has no affect on the leveling. He still shows the 8hpd as before. Any ideas?

      Thanks for the reply, Carla.

I’m getting closer to what we want. We found that we needed to define the calendar for the non-working time for the Timescale to have the Gantt start at 7:00 AM. So the Gantt looks correct, but when we put in the first task it still starts at 8:00 AM.

So here are the places we put the defined calendar:
Project menu, Project Information, Calendar, Hourly
Tools menu, Option, Calendar, daily and weekly hours set to default of the Hourly calendar
Format menu, Timescale, Non-working time, Calendar, Hourly
      Task Information, Calendar, Hourly

There must be some place where the calendar must be selected that we are still missing. We hope someone can tell us where that is.

      Thanks again, Barbara

I don’t see anything in that document other than just install the software… Am I missing something? Also… did you notice above that I installed it and the two critical updates and it’s now working? I just have to wait and see if it sticks.

      Thanks.

No problem. Did you install according to Installing the Product Software in Windows Vista for a Wired (Ethernet) Network Connection? Have you also seen When I Try Printing, My Printer Is Not Available in the List of Printers?

Sorry! That’s my old printer. This one is a 7410…

When I go there and look for an Officejet 1170 I get a choice of 6 different printers none of which has a Vista driver.

I choose my printer and then Vista64

Still working a few hours later .

      Bryan

Can you supply a link to the HP download?

Unless the driver is specifically qualified for Vista the driver may be the problem. Microsoft made big changes in the networking stack for Vista. So, any driver that deals with a networked device had to be substantially modified.

I’ve been using the standard HP install (HUGE) from their site. There are now two updates there. I’ve uninstalled, reinstalled and added the patches. The printer is working again, however that’s not unusual. Hopefully it’ll ‘stick’ this time!

      Thanks,

      Bryan

See if Vista lost network printer after rebooting or HP printer gets lost help.

BTW, what drivers are you using? HP does not supply Vista drivers for the 1170 series.

    • in reply to: Printer keeps disappearing #1165128

Thanks, but there is no printer to print to… no print jobs can even begin. Rebooting doesn’t help.

Is it a stand alone networked printer connected to a router or a shared printer connected to a computer?

We have fond that at times Vista will lose connection to a shared printer across the network. What we have found, reboot the machine that has lost the connection, and all of those print jobs will start printing out.

    • in reply to: Printer keeps disappearing #1165127

Actually that has happened before when the printer gets a different IP (it is assigned by the router. I’ve been meaning to make it static for a long time..), however in that case the printer still shows up in the printers folder and all I have to do is give the port the new IP address…

This time it seems like the printer driver was never installed.

Seems as though the network connection is being lost or the printer IP address is changing.

How is the IP addressed assigned to the printer? Is it a static address?

How is it connected to the network – ethernet or wireless?

Ethernet cable. It has been changed over the months too. The difficulty in figuring this out is I now have to reinstall the HP software. It will work for a while. The printer will show up in the printers folder. Then one day. In a few weeks or months, it’ll be gone…

1.) Is Vista up-to-date with service pack and patches? YEP.
2.) Do you have the latest drivers installed for the printer? YEP.
3.) Is the printer USB or network or wireless? Network
4.) Is it is USB or networked can you try a different calbe? It’s connected to everyone else. It is also discoverable by the HP driver installer program. So reinstalling fixes the problem each time.

    • I don’t have those menu choices but my accounts are all POP/SMTP

So, what mail service Type do you show under Tools | Email Accounts | View or Change Existing …?

    • Not sure why puzzled.. maybe I’m saying it wrong. I just create an appt. Invite attendees. They respond and voila!

OK. I don’t have any ideas, Appointment Originators are locked down from user changes in Outlook, you might see if Outlook Spy can tweak those Appointments, or you may have to recreate them. BTW I’m puzzled as to how you “update my attendees calendars” in standalone Outlook, what mail service Type do you show under Tools | Email Accounts | View or Change Existing …?
