AskWoody LoungerMS Access 2007
Outlook 2007
I have an access database from which I would like to send a mail out to recipients to have them check a specific records details.
In Access I have all but completed the procedure which uses the /cmd switch to pass known variable on opening the database. The difficulty now comes when sending the shortcut to the recipient in form of e-mail via outlook.
the shortcut format is same as a shortcut link with the relevant /cmd switch and variable:
“C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice12MSACCESS.EXE” “S:DatabasesFileListing.accdb” /cmd “abc123”But when I try and use that in outlook I don’t get the formatting nor hyperlink retained correctly.
Any pointers as to best way to go about this please?
Thanks

AskWoody LoungerThe error could mean what it says (shortage of RAM) but it could also be caused by database bloat or corruption.
Try Compact and Repair first (Office button > Manage > Compact and Repair).
If that doesn’t help, you could try the following:
– Create a blank new database.
– Import all database objects from the problem database.
– Set the startup options and the VBA references as in the old database.
Hopefully the problem won’t occur in the new database. Thanks Hans, compact and repair appears to have resolved error, although I think it would be prudent to copy and clean as well.
I’ve inherited management of the database from a ‘rogue’ db creator (I cannot use the term developer) so there’s lot’s to be cleaned up. -

AskWoody LoungerOK, I manage a large CRM system with over 200 tables not including system tables and use this method quite successfully.
You can use the RESTORE method in your maintenance plans, have a look here
Restore database for starters
Thanks Jezza, lots of reading to go with there.

AskWoody LoungerHi Alan
Could you write a simple DTS package from Live to your Spare? I am not sure of the complexity of the database schema but you could do an UPDATE statement to update all records in the Spare with records from Live. You will have to identify the constraints , break and recreate them when doing a bulk copy, I do thison a regular basis when I update certain tables in my hot spare used for reporting hence taking a resource drain from my Live system.
Not the solution but a method you could investigate.
Thanks Jezza but it’s quite a complex db so I’m afraid it’s out of the range of update procedure.
Was thinking more of separate procedure within the sql server.
Cheers

AskWoody LoungerSeptember 16, 2009 at 11:56 am in reply to: Analysis ToolPack errors after upgrade (Excel 2007) #1177577In Excel 2007, you should not need the ATP to use these functions, they are built-in.
Could you attach a small sample file that exhibits the problem please?
I am unable to replicate the error in a small workbook as delicate info in it.
I googled and found lots of feedback re:same issue with EOMONTH producing the error
We suspected it was compatibility issue but our testing has ruled that out.The workaround was/is to use:
=DATE(YEAR(A1),MONTH(A1),0)
which returned the end date of the previous month of the date contained in A1 -

AskWoody LoungerSeptember 3, 2009 at 11:58 am in reply to: Analysis ToolPack errors after upgrade (Excel 2007) #1176187bump…
experiencing same problem with latest excel 2007 updates.
Formulas dependent upon analysis toolpak (such as eomonth?) now show the result still in the cell, e.g. 31 August 2009, but on selecting the cell the contents show #N/A
On some workstations analysis toolpak was not included as an add-in, yet on other workstations analyisis toolpak was included as an add-in.
The cell contents formula remained elusive.Worksheet was on manual calc but still showed 31 August 209 after saving and re-opening.
When the worksheet was copied (using Ctrl+drag/drop) the cells lost their ‘value’ and revealed #N/A in the visible screen.
No solution as yet other than re-enter the formula to all sheets.
A bit worrying this because we may need to distribute odd worksheets to other remote users and could be embarrassing.Anyone had any luck with positive solution?
Thanks

AskWoody LoungerUnion query!!
Blinking blast!!!!!
The originating source query (parent query?) was a union query which is a no-no for use in the update query tree (as are grouped queries involving summed fields).
resolved the union query with a select query calculated field and all updates nicely now. Thanks for the suggestions and hopefully this will give pointers to other ‘updaters’.
Cheers
Alan
