——————————————-Ok – that’s simple enough.
Thanks.Btw, I guess you can’t SIMPLY do this using the Office 2013 GUI either,
or you would have told me.Correct?

AskWoody LoungerSeptember 11, 2013 at 7:30 pm in reply to: Office 2010: Adding ribbon tabs to a file, are they saved in the file? (X posted to Word forum) #1411334I found this another site – but it does not seem to me reasonable. Seems to me that you can save with the document files/templates:
Save and Share Customizations
Once you have set up your custom tabs, you can export the customizations to a file by clicking Import/Export. Click Export All Customizations, and click Save to save the exported file. You might do this if you want to use your custom layout on another computer at work or at home. You can also share your customizations with other people in your office so that you all share the same setup. You can use your exported customization on another computer by launching Word, choose File > Options > Customize Ribbon, and then choose Import/Export > Import Customization File. Now browse to find the file you that exported so you can import the details.

Well I guess that you can easily use VBA to program a good look-alike: just create a tall thin non-modal form and put buttons on it. Create a click handler for each button and put in a call to a tool.
Thanks for the answer.

Yes, I also played with the positioning like that. And it worked well enough on one screen. But clients often have two screens. The maths gets more complicated. I wondering if anybody has something ready packaged.

Thanks for the response.
Sorry it has taken a while to get back. My wife gave birth a short while ago.
>> Are you talking about a vba userform?
Yes.>> If so, do you want this to appear over the top of your document window and hide the lot or sit aligned left/middle/top/bottom etc?
I want the vba form sit to aligned to left/right of the Word doc app window.
Thanks,

AskWoody LoungerNovember 8, 2012 at 10:21 am in reply to: Word VBA 2003/07/10: to capture all mouse clicks within the document? #1355631Hi Paul,
Great thanks for the response.
Sorry it took a while for me to get back to you.I copy+pasted the following code into the Word VBA environment.
Private Sub DocumentSelectionChange()
Dim vstoDoc As Document = Globals.Factory.GetVstoObject(Me.Application.ActiveDocument)
AddHandler vstoDoc.SelectionChange, AddressOf ThisDocument_SelectionChange
End SubPrivate Sub ThisDocument_SelectionChange(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As Microsoft.Office. _
Tools.Word.SelectionEventArgs)
System.Windows.Forms.MessageBox.Show (“The selection in the document has changed.”)
End Sub
The line starting with “Dim vstoDoc As Document” is flagged by the VGA environment as an error.
Do I need to add a reference to accept the Globals.Factory.GetVstoObject() declaration?
Thanks,
Avraham -

AskWoody LoungerOctober 23, 2012 at 11:00 am in reply to: Copy+pasted a Pivot Chart from a Word doc to another Word doc – got smashed #1352858Ok – I fixed it myself.
Here’s what is happening, AFAIU, and the work-around.
The Solution to the Excel Pivot Charts ‘breaking’
There was no direct solution. This seems to be a bug – or maybe just a lack of backward compatibility – since the original doc was a ‘Word 2003 compatible’ file.
I solved this as follows:
1. Save As Word 2007/2010 file.
All Pivot Charts immediately get broken.2. Right-click any of the charts to open the Excel source file.
3. Copy each of the charts from the Excel source file back into the Word doc.
They should all be OK now. This is not the sort of surprise you want to bump into at 11:00 at night when you want to release something…

Ok – can you tell me how to do what I want to do by using a predefined User function?
Or can I assign the macro to a user function?

AskWoody LoungerJuly 26, 2012 at 5:19 pm in reply to: Want a user function in Excel to add incrementing counter to list of values #1342654Is that so …?
Just to repeat that, you mean to say that the MS “vision” for all Excel’s built-in fucntions are that they work on just *one* cell and not a series of cells…?
I am very surprised.
A spread sheet is well – s-p-r-e-a-d o-u-t … so with that in mind, I would have thought that all the functions should be able to act “spread out” over cells …

Thanks!Yes – that’s exactly it !
But isnt there a user function for that – and not a VBA soln?
I always first ask for a user function.
Failing that – what are the ways that I can turn your macro into one that looks as if it was “born” with Excel? I.e., like the integrated Excel functions.
